Screenshots of the new HSM, coming soon to a screen near you!

Here are some preliminary screen shots, there is still a lot of work to get done.

There are going to be a lot of hiccups with functionality in the first few months, but these will all be ironed out as the developers get around to taking care of them.

Every basic function we have now is available, the new stuff like image galleries (you can upload your technical analysis charts) are self explanatory. Users can not browse your gallery of charts instead of them being lost in the history of a thread.

The front page has a scrolling marquee directing new visitors to the most popular forums/thread eg the Stock Market Discussion thread.

Some things to note, the "Recent Activity" section on the front page shows you all activity from all over the site. So if JoeBlow updates a chart, that will show up. This area is customizable, so if you only want, for example, "penny stocks" type discussion to show up, then you need to subscribe to the penny stock forum, and set your preference for only that forum to show up.

Clicking on the "Forum" link just below the logo can take you do any subforum, or the top level forum as we are used to seeing it now:

Nothing much new here, its what you are used to seeing.

and lastly the postbit sections, its pretty much what we have now, some extra little functions like multiquote and the ability to give a post a thumbs up for some extra points, much like the reputation system.

The move could be happening early next week.

There are few bugs to iron out, and as mentioned at the top of this thread, it will be a few months before everything is running smoothly.

At the end of the day, what we hope to accomplish here is an improved financial forum with more bells and whistles.

one thing i dislike about the new platform is the different/decreased sized font.
another thing is that a quarter of the right side of the page is taken up by ads which i guess is a platform thing.

those two things combined lead for all posts to seem smaller unlike with forums like this which i generally like.

Nope, font size is the same, or any size we choose to make it.

The ads on the right do not go all the way down the page on the threads, only the first few posts are narrower, they go to full length after the ads.

With either IE or Firefox you can adjust the font size for any website by holding the 'Ctrl' key and rolling your mouse wheel. Once you set it your browser will remember that setting forever, and changing the font size on one website does not affect your settings for other websites.

Therefore, the super easy solution is on the very first visit to the new layout you simply hold the 'Ctrl' key and roll your mouse wheel to set your font size, then continue on about your merry way. Fixed and done in about 4.7 seconds, permanently.

yeh but that doesnt simply just change the font size, but the size of the page as a whole. it distorts the look of everything a bit.

stockjocke said fonts will remain the same though so all is good.

Larger font means larger words, so of course the layout will adjust to fit everything. I was just offering a simple solution, sorry it wasn't a satisfactory answer for you. Just keep squinting instead.
