Glen Beck

Thread Starter
From an email I received today from The People for the American Way:

Quote:
Glenn Beck's latest conspiracy theory target is a 78-year-old professor who, 45 years ago, published an article with her husband which posited that people overwhelming the welfare rolls could put enough stress on the system that it would force the need for certain reforms to help the poor.

The result? City University of New York professor and longtime advocate for the poor and working class, Frances Fox Piven has been receiving repeated death threats on online message boards and has personally received angry and violent emails.1 (1. http://www.nytimes.com/2011/01/22/bu...dia/22beck.htm)

Beck has chosen to escalate these attacks even after the sad instance of political violence we recently experienced -- and are still recovering from -- in Arizona. Amidst calls to bring an end to incendiary, violence-causing rhetoric, Beck is doubling down, and if his network and advertisers simply sit back and watch, they must be held accountable for any violence this rhetoric may reap.
You can sign the petition asking advertisers to drop Fox News here:

http://www.pfaw.org/DropFox

And when you walk into any establishment with Fox News droning on, please ask the management to change the channel, or explain you will be forced to leave and spend your money elsewhere.

I haven't had one manager ask me to leave. The channel always gets changed.

It's all about capitalism people.

I find this hilarious.

She goes on the Nation magazine and says she would like to see riots in the United States like they had in Greece. Glenn Beck points this out and they jump all over Glenn Beck?

You know, if you think it's stupid to say something and you don't want everyone to know you said it, maybe you should keep your mouth shut?

But if you say something idiotic and want to incite violence, don't whine, bitch, moan and complain when someone like Glenn Beck comes along and points out your violent rhetoric.

The funniest part though is the ageism

So, they sent you here to agitate again?

Nothing wrong with Capitalism,
It is what creates wealth and
CREATES Jobs!

Something the Communists countries
can't do! Even China had to allow
Capitalism to stop the STARVATION
of Hundreds of MILLIONS of Chinese.

Now if we can just KILL OFF the
communists here before they completely
DESTROY this country & ALL JOBS .....

Both Cloward & Piven can ROT in their Utopia.

Is it possible for you to just shut your trap? I don't know why the management coddles you and puts up with your nonsense.

You don't trade, you write half witted sentences, and you cannot even take up a full line of text. Did I mention you have zero integrity?

BTW, you're a few years off on your McCarthism. Communism is dead and has been for a couple decades genius.

I cant believe people still fall for this garbage.

Its the "outrage of the week".

There is always some communist progressive coming to take your freedoms away!

How it works is that Beck and his team of researchers, producers and staff all sit in an office and think of ways to boost ratings.

How do you boost ratings?

You need to create controversy, outrage and fear. This results in free media exposure across the spectrum, as is evident by all the other media sources picking up on this story.

What causes the most fear amongst Becks demographic?

The fear that the communists are coming!

He does what he is paid to do, he does it well, simple as that.

Just watch, next month this time this will all be forgotten and a new communist threat will be identified.

Next month? He has been talking about Cloward and Pivon for years, just more stuff to make people aware of since she can't seem to shut her mouth. To bad she will never seem to see her utopia society of hell in her lifetime.

Do you not listen to interviews when Obama says he wishes he could get a single payer healthcare to pass, and that it is his ultimate goal? Socialist. Even his buddy Al Sharpton said in an interview, "well if the American people didn't want socialism they shouldn't have voted for Obama".

Communist: NO
Socialist: HELL YES

That may be his rhetoric, but what about his policy?

I mean, Obamacare itself is very similar to the 1996 proposal the Republicans gave to Clinton....they called it, IIRC, the Personal Responsiblity healthcare act.

Who said that there aren't socialist leaning Republicans out there proposing garbage? There are, no doubt about it. I could care less about Repub/Dem, it is what it is. And when the President talks about what he wants, he isn't just blabbering for rhetoric sake. You really believe that?

He doesn't need to create any of it.

Instead, fools like Piven get page space in the Nation magazine and they do it to themselves.

rolexian, the difference is that Republicans are smart enough to name their policies with catchy feel-good titles.

The "We take away your rights and spy on you act" was named the Patriot Act. Who can argue against being a patriot!

The "Personal Responsiblity healthcare act".. damn straight! How can you be against personal responsibility? Not a peep about socialism back then.

If the democrats smartened up a bit, they would have named named Obamacare as "The freedom to love America and hate high premiums by Insurance companies act".

They named it the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.

Yep, this is the playbook.

American's are really stupid people. Bitter clingers who hang on to their guns and their Bibles. Easily fooled by the title of a bill, rather than the contents.

If only the Democrats could learn to communicate like the Republicans! Oh, for the days!

That's all it is, Democrats. It's all about communication. Or rather, a failure of communication. If only Obama and the Democrats could get more time on news channels, radio, newspapers, etc, and have the ability to explain to the American public without having the interference of those damn Republicans!

It's not the policies of Democrats, clearly. It's not the political philosophy. It's all about communication. Once they can communicate their agenda clearly to America, we'll all love them.

It is no secret. Catchy titles and slogans work much better than policy. "No Child Left Behind, etc."

Why is it that people currently think the Republicans are less likely to cut social security?

Why is it that people think that Republicans run balanced budgets?

Why is it that in 2007, more than half of all Americans thought Saddam Hussein was personably responsible and involved in 9-11?

Why is it that people reject the mountain of science behind evolution?

Why is it that Michele Bachmann can make an aboslutely ridiculous argument against climate change (not saying I believe it is there, but her argument was so bad), and she isn't challenged?

Why is it that people against "big government" have no problem with it when it comes to our military?

Why is it that people think that supporting your troops means supporting your politicians?

Why is it that people think that cutting earmarks and NEA funding would seriously help the deficit?

Why is it that a fourth of all Americans think Obama is a Kenyan; half think he isn't a Christian, etc?

Why is it that the vast majority of Tea Partiers thought that their taxes went up in 2009 and 2010?

Why is it that the Tea Party believes that tort reform will completely solve our healthcare crisis?

Again, and again.

There are certainly a lot of stupid Americans. It doesn't help that the most of the voting block is quite old, which tends to make them "stupid" (less willing to look at facts, more stubborn, loyal to a party, or idealistic).

Only 1 in 5 Americans can name a majority of the rights granted by the first amendment...

I think that the Democrats don't WANT to communicate like the Republicans. Then, when they don't get the right policy in place, they can say "what could we do? The Republicans just communicated much better than we did"!

As I explained to you well back, Americans are fairly progressive. To their detriment, but they are. They are to the "left" on gay marriage, DADT, healthcare, size of the federal government, welfare, social services, the military, taxes, regulations, etc.
