Big losing streak :(

Hey guys

For the last month almost everything I have playing has been going down significantly. I keep getting stopped out almost every position I enter. I seem to never make a profit. I don’t know why this is happening to me the last few months have been good to me and I was very consistent and profitable. But for some reason everything I touch now is dropping almost as soon as I enter my position. All my plays are based on T.A. I try to keep it simple by using very basic indicators and trend lines. But everything I pick is breaking through support and the ones who don’t usually stay flat. This has left me very depressed and has caused me to overtrade the last week causing even more losses and raking up a lot of commission fees.

What do you guys do when you’re in a losing streak? To try and break free?
Any help would be appreciated

Thank you

Scale down you size until you get out of the losing streak. Try to figure out what is wrong has the market changed do you need to adjust or treak your strategy. Go back to the basics. Also only trade your best setups. Don't overtrade. Be patient and you will work through it. Finally maybe you need some time away.

Take a break from trading immediately! Stop trading!

Stay away for 1wk, 2wk even 1 month. Just paper trade and see if you are getting your groove back.

Thank you I think I’ll be taking a break as soon as I liquidate all my position.

Ditto that, its worked for me in the past. Take a break before you blow up your account.
It's either that or your losses could force you to take some time off.

Older traders will recognize this, its one of those periods where everything just does the opposite. You go long, the stock goes down. You go short, the stock rallies. Nothing works!

Its best just to grab what ever you have left over and stay away for a while.

That's the best advice anyone can give/receive.

I'm going to give you some very, very good advice..... Stop basing everything on TA as you stated you do.

I agree with USMC, you can't base it entirely off TA

Take a break from trading, laugh at how ridiculously bad your trading has been, and come back fresh

I think the guys are right,I Know that if your a painter and you loose your edge then it means to step back and take a deep breath.i would also say to take a breather

i play with TA, it's like having night vision in the dark battlefields.

TA is important
Fundamentals are important
I also take market sentiment into consideration

Also, the markets are irrational and nothing makes sense

I myself am having some frustrating times these days.
My problem is though, that I dont take my profits in time because I get too greedy, and suddenly they turn into losses.

I am gonna take some time away, maybe a week or two. I've done this before and it really helps to get away from the insanity for some time, and then return with a fresh mindset

how about HOLLYDAYS!

after all we have gone, trading will persist! i read in steve nison book , i think, (candlesticks) that japanese people were trading rice futures 500 years ago! so stock market will go on for ages...

enjoy life w/ your friends and family, your gf, etc; give a break to yourself and come back revigorated; money is good, but its not the first thing i think in the morning, when i wake up!

cheers, enjoy life!

I hear you man. I have problems when a stock goes on a run, and I try to resist, and when I finally yielded and got in, I get burned. It's hard when it was on your watch list, and you just feel left out thinking you should've got something out of it.

I am in same boat. Whatever hard earned profits I produced in past 2 months are now become all reds. My strategy is to pause my trading. and Sit on those stocks long. With time, I will get my losses back.
