Hi Guys,

which TA book would you recommend?

I've narrowed down to the following, but open to suggestion as well.

I am looking for one which would be thorough and dont mind having to looking up terms or read other books as I am quite an academic myself.

Technical Analysis of the Financial Markets: A Comprehensive Guide to Trading Methods and Applications
John Murphy
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Technical-An...=2BFBKIOE3YH1P

Technical Analysis: The Complete Resource for Financial Market Technicians
Charles D. Kirkpatrick II CMT
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Technical-An...=2BFBKIOE3YH1P

Technical Analysis Explained: The Successful Investor's Guide to Spotting Investment Trends and Turning Points
Martin Pring
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Technical-An...=2BFBKIOE3YH1P

Technical Analysis from A to Z, 2nd Edition: Covers Every Trading Tool from the Absolute Breadth Index to the Zig Zag
Steven Achelis
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Technical-An...=2BFBKIOE3YH1P

Technical Analysis: Power Tools for Active Investors
Gerald Appel

Leaning towards the first link.

Many thanks in advance.

I learned the most about TA from reading through the StockCharts education section.
Best books I read were by Toni Turner.

Yea, Toni Turner is good and so are the For Dummies books. Nison is one of the best when it comes to candlesticks.

Personally, I'd save my money or buy a 12 pack of beer, but that's just me.

one more vote for toni turner

The Complete Trading for a Living: The Legendary Approach to Trading with the Companion Study Guide
Alexander Elder

A Beginner's Guide to Day Trading Online (2nd edition)
Toni Turner

I have purchased but not yet gotten around to even unwrapping the John Murphy one. There is SO much basic information available online as well, the more technical books get a little more under the skin of how the indicators are made and why they are useful.

I like this book: http://www.technicalanalysisbook.com/

It's by Brian Shannon's, the dude who does Alpha Trends on StockTwits. It took me a while to appreciate his book (when I was learning) but came to appreciate it when I actually learned how to use technical analysis properly (as a risk management tool; instead, of a profit tool).
