Christianity: most persecuted religion

anyone care to discuss this? How about we compare ISLAM/MUSLIMS and CHRISTIANITY/CHRISTIANS in terms of how the world treats them (since apparently Muslims are being persecuted all over the place and they deserve better)...

here is a start:

anyone?

Unquestionably, Christianity and Islam do not belong on a list of "most persecuted religions".

Of modern-day religions, that would go to the Jews or the Hindus. Maybe the Zoroastrians and those who practice traditional Eastern religions.

- Saudi Arabia bans churches, public Christian worship, the Bible and the sale of Christmas cards. Christians are regularly imprisoned and tortured on trumped-up charges of drinking, blaspheming or Bible-bashing.

- Egypt law states that Coptic Christians must get permission from the president to build or repair churches, but he usually refuses. Christian girls and even the wives of Christian priests are abducted and have their religion forcibly converted.

- In Indonesia, some 10,000 Christians have been killed in the last few years.

- In Pakistan, dozens of Christians have been killed in bomb and gun attacks on churches and Christian schools in the last few years.

- In Nigeria, thousands of Christians have been killed in the last few years.

- In Sri Lanka, religious tension led to 44 churches being attacked in a four month period, with 140 churches being forced to close because of intimidation.

- In India, there have been hundreds of attacks against the Christian community. The government’s affirmative action program for untouchables guarantees jobs and loans for poor Hindus and Buddhists, but not for Christians.

- In China, more than 100 ‘house churches’ were closed down and dozens of priests imprisoned. If you join the Communist party you get special privileges, but you can only join if you are atheist.

- Dr Paul Marshall, senior fellow at the Centre for Religious Freedom in Washington, estimates that there are 200 million Christians who face violence because of their faith, and 350 million who face legally sanctioned discrimination in terms of access to jobs and housing.

- The World Evangelical Alliance wrote in a report to the UN Human Rights Commission last year that Christians are ‘the largest single group in the world which is being denied human rights on the basis of their faith’.

- The BBC, despite being mainly funded by Christians, is an organisation that promotes ridicule of the Bible, while banning criticism of the Koran.

- The Vietnamese government has announced the continuation of a massive military operation to “wipe out” Christians in the central highlands who refuse to join the state-approved church.

- In Uzbekistan, a Christian man has been fined the equivalent of seven years' salary for possessing a movie about Jesus.

- and of course we Americans know full well how the American main stream media (liberal agenda) treats Christianity

There was this thing called the holocaust....you may have heard of it...

There is a reason our society is so sensitive towards anything that could be interpreted as anti-Semitic.

Hindus have been assaulted by the Muslims, then the Christians, and now both. I feel for them; what they have to do with Muslims and Christians is akin to what Americans have to do with illegal immigrants, except several times worse.

Historically, I would wager that Christians and Muslims have slaughtered each other; I would guess in equal numbers.

More recently, it depends on your perspective. Because the "West" is not technically "Christian," crimes that we commit on the ME are not seen as Christian attacks. But becasue ME countries are completely seen as Muslim, any attack they make on us is considered an attack by Muslims. At the individual level, no doubt Christians are more persecuted. But I bet American troops have killed more Muslims than Muslims have killed Christians in the past ten years.

I'm pretty sure if there were any Jews in Iraq they would get as bad or worse a treatment. Same goes for any other Islamic country.

Ya in terms of over history i believe more Christians have died than jews or muslims.
Also, your comment over the past 10 years, i suppose all of them were innocent also eh?
I think currently, its because Christianity is perceived as a European/western or "white" religion in some perspectives, it gets more flack.
Also do i hear of any rabbis assaulting children or whatever? im sure some have, as their are always bad apples in the bunch but yet never is reported.

In the 20th century, Christians have been persecuted by radical Muslim and Hindu groups inter alia due to conversion act conducted by Evangelicals, and by (officially) atheistic states such as the USSR and North Korea. Currently (as of 2010), as estimated by Open Doors UK, an estimated 100 million Christians face persecution, particularly in the Muslim world, North Korea and the hands of Hindu extremism and Islamic terrorism in India, with a rising tendency

As a disclosure, im neither this nor that and could careless but hinges on human rights.

Maybe as a raw number, but as a percentage of the total population I would reckon that the Jews are #1.

No, but obviously I am implying that many of them are.

As with political correctness, this is true. But I think that Christians acknowledge that they have contributed unretributed atrocities against Jews, Hindus, atheists, etc.; they are sensitive towards that.

Honestly, Christianity gets more flack because it is a much more of an in-your-face religion. Jews and Hindus, especially in America, don't convert people as vigorously.

That persecution should be condemned. But the easy solution would be for the Christians to leave the country or tone down their evangelicalism. Especially in the case of countries like Turkey and India, which are Democracys.

It's amazing the number of "athists" that come to the defense of muslims on this site. you'd almost think they have something against christians. Almost
I wonder why they don't support women and blacks the same way...I mean, conservative blacks and women.

I don't see how coming to the defense of one religion can dictate ones position on another.

care to provide some numbers? and of course you those numbers would be of those killed BY "crusaders" right? not the crusaders themselves...right?

go ahead scholar

you could start here since its obviously the most biased opinion (after all, getting an accurate number of those slain from crusaders is IMPOSSIBLE, but guesstimates are available):

Quote:
TOTAL: When I take all the individual death tolls listed here, weed out
the duplicates, fill in the blanks, apply Occam ("Pluralitas non est
ponenda sine necessitate"), etc. I get a very rough total of 1½ M
deaths in the Crusades.
http://articles.exchristian.net/2002...-killed-by.php

are those "deaths" of just the "slain" or of crusaders themselves who died of say disease?

you see...even the MOST ABSURD number, 1.5million is NOTHING...

don't look here if you are a muslim sympathizer:

http://www.uncoverage.net/2010/09/ho...ed-by-muslims/

*OH and before you come back and post something absurd again...possibly a reply such as "Christians have killed billions before time began"..

well, I just want to make sure you don't make yourself look stupid:

here is a number you might want to CONSIDER:
Quote:
Number who have ever been born 106,456,367,669
http://www.prb.org/articles/2002/how...edonearth.aspx

and yes, I've heard muslim sympathizers claim that Christianity has killed billions of billions of people.......RIGHTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT
