Looking for an in depth Backtesting software, please help....

Hey stock market Veterans&Gods, do I ask all the hard questions or what? Seems like the quesitons I want answered most do not get answered, oh well.............

I got a new one for you. I want to find some good software for back testing a few things. I did a search on the forums and StrategyDesk was mentioned, I checked it out and the results are not the type of results I was looking for. They basically gave you the profits and losses and the dates buy/sell orders were executed.

The specific questions I want answered are this.......What percentage of the time do the price bars stay away from an EMA, the results would look like this: 10% of the time price stayed away from the EMA for 5 days, 25% of the time price stayed away from the EMA for 30 days, 50% of the time price touched the EMA....etc....Does that make sense what I want? I want to do other things as well, like break down the percentage of the time price reversed after touching the EMA for a period of 3 bars or more.........

Am I asking way too much?

If I'm not mistaken, Think or Swim has something call Prodigio which incorporates backtesting for FREE. I'm not sure if its capable of what you looking for, but you may want to look into that.

Well I am signed up with TDA and it is my understanding that Prodigio is currently available to original TOS customers, but not TDA. But will become available to TDA customers in about 2 months.

I wonder if I can download and use the back-testing part anyways...........(Currently call TOS people)

You can sign up for TOS for free. Not sure if the account needs to be funded or not. Did you ask them this?

The majority of trading softwares are able to perform this.
You can check for example Amibroker or QuantShare (currently free)
