GM - General Motors - Page 6

The UAW is dumping more of their shares at the same time, while the price is high? I'm thinking this might be a good short once the initial euphoria wears off.

http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2010-1...-offering.html

According to that, the price needs to hit 45 bucks for the US to break even and 60 for canada to break even.

Only the government could make an IPO this screwy. They are selling at a loss when they exercise at 33.

Ignore.

Thanks!

My trade account let me place a GM order to go in tomorrow morning.

Will this one begin trading right at the market open? Usually IPOs begin trading 1 to 1 1/2 hours after the market opens.

What broker? Scottrade doesn't even have a listing for GM yet.

TDA has it, you just can't place an order yet.

The last 3 or 4 ipos I bought did not list symbols until 1 -1.5 hours after the market open.

Is this what Uncle Sam means that they want retail investors included?

Guess i'm out of my plans to flip it

They were saying something about that on CNBC that all the little guys wouldn't be able to get thier hands on the stock until all the big money bought it up.. I think I am just going to avoid this one altogethor. If you get in soon enough to flip you've got a good chance but to just jump in short after all the money is in I could see a squeeze happening. It's pretty unpredictable if your not in close to 33 you could end up losing just as much as you think you were going to make.

Gonna just hold my F shares, crossing my fingers that they jump along with GM.

It is risky, media has been pumping this up too much, but the media can move the market.

I am in because GM will be selling more cars in China than the US. Where is a big chunk of the money that we all spend during the holidays going . . . yes China, so they could buy more GM cars.

Hey, profit is the name of the game. GLTA.

When is the first time the institutions could short?

I know you can not short until 3 days after the company goes public.
Well, I'm not one of the people who wasn't going to be able to get in on this, but I'm staying away from it. I think it was priced too high initially anyways, and the recent 31% expansion of it on top of it being overpriced is just more than I want a part of. This thing is all sizzle and no steak. GM still has a lot of problems.

I'm also irked that the government went to such great lengths to state that the retail investors who wanted in on this company, which we as taxpayers own, would be included in this IPO if they wanted, and then the handlers turned around and excluded everyone who didn't have half a million in cash.

What time are you planning on buying this for a day trade play. I am looking at around 11:30 light some of the hype fall, then I bet we will see a nice boost throughout the day.

Me either. It's just going to be totally unpredictable and I want none of it - I'll let others have all the fun.

Should be pretty entertaining to watch though.
