Life settlements are are done by brokers who pool investor's money to buy life insurance policies. It started back in the '80's with AIDS victims, wnating to get some money out now because they had no need to give the money to a family member when they died.
Life settlements sound like a good product to most people but the industry is filled with fraud and there are cases pending allll the time against firms that deal with this stuff. Larry King even has a lawsuit pending from a life settlement. There are several problems with putting one of these deals together and investors could end up with having their money tied up for years. Honestly, I would stay away from life settlements, there are better ways to make money.
