The hot chicks section?

Okay, is there anyone on this board who is part of the 10 to 14% of the population who has had an out of body experience or who astral project?

You keep saying 10%-14% of the population has had an out of body experience as if it's a fact. It's not. Maybe 10%-14% believe they've had an out of body experience, but that's hardly makes it true.

Years ago, I ended up in the ER from an actionable
incident. The Dr said I died and was promptly revived.
I remember hovering near the ceiling, then from a tiled
countertop, watching them working on me. I was in a
coma for three days afterwards. I later described the
experience to the Dr and he confirmed what he could
remember.

Is that an Astral projection or did I just hear all of this?
I don't know.

OH! One of the things I mentioned to the Dr, besides
conversations, was the layout of the room and placement
of equipment & Fixtures. I wasn't conscience at the time
and had never been in an ER Op Rm before, in particular,
that one.

^ That's actually really interesting. I'm also glad it's a member here that can validate Janie's beliefs, though I personally am not swayed in my disbelief of it. I know no one is losing sleep over it though

I say so because, according to some studies, 10 to 14% of the population has had an experience with it. Included in that 10 to 14%, are the people who can remember just one experience in their life, for example due to an accident & others who have had many experiences & can leave their body at will via meditation or whatever.

Some researchers believe that this variance is due to the fact that we are still evolving. And that makes sense to me.

Please check out the bottom of my post #35 here. It includes a short list of Universities which hold in their academia studies on Astral Projection.

I wonder what percentage were taking hallucinagenics at the time of their 'experience'...

Thank you Techunter. It takes a lot of guts to put yourself out there.
Yes, what you describe is an out of body experience. My mother had one very similar to your own. She shocked the surgeons by telling them what they did & what they said during her surgery.

Now, imagine that you could do this very same thing by simply relaxing or meditating.. or from simply being in a relaxed state, such as from reading a good book.

That's a good point, but I have to tell you that the people who I personally know very well, who are aware of their ability to leave their body are very grounded individuals, and no one to my knowledge has used hallucinogens.

do these well grounded people hear 'voices' as well?

people claiming to 'leave their bodies' and such without the aid of recreational drugs exhibit a symptom of more than one mental illness and these people should seek treatment... hope this helps...

No, it's actually a natural phenomenon that can occur under certain circumstances, for example, when the brain is deprived of oxygen. There is documented research on inducing out-of-body experiences using flight simulators to steadily increase G-forces until people black out. No drugs and nothing mystical required.

if someone is 'well grounded' and otherwise healthy and they claim they are having out of body experiences then it is a symptom of more than one mental health issue... we are not talking about fighter pilots or deep sea divers who are deprived of oxygen...

This is a pointless argument because neither side will ever be able to prove to the other that they are wrong. Simple fact: NO ONE knows what happens when we die, and stay dead. So, who cares what someone else thinks? Do you really care that much to argue over it? FFS. Get over it and move on. We'll all find out eventually anyway...

It's interesting that you bring up mental illness.

I know of someone who after learning about schizophrenia in school, went to a psychiatrist and discussed the fact that they and their family members often had out of body experiences.

The psychiatrist deemed the person normal and referred the person to a para-psychologist, who told the person that the fact that they and their family members had out of body experiences was not all that uncommon and the ability usually runs in families.

Did she step off the bus out into the city streets?
Was she just a small town girl with her whole life packed
In a suitcase by her feet?

But somehow the lights didn't
shine as bright as they did
On her mama's TV screen?

And did the work seemed harder?
The days seemed longer
Than she ever thought they'd be?

Well, you know you got to stick to your guns
When it all comes down
Cause sometimes you can't choose
It's like heads they win
Tails you're gonna lose

Win big--Mama's fallen angel
Lose big--livin' out of lies
Wants it all--Mama's fallen angel
Lose it all, rollin' the dice of her life...
