I'm not saying that all white men (myself included) are whinning, but there are definately some who are. I guess what I'm saying is that the white guy shouldn't get the job just because he's white...

You and Gen1GT and maybenow and Head22 seem to be the ones jumping to conclusions. I challenge any of you to quote where anyone said that reverse discrimination happens IN ALL CASES, or that THE WHITE GUY SHOULD GET THE JOB JUST BECAUSE HE'S WHITE.
Seriously, quote it. It hasn't happened, You guys are arguing like it has happened, just to argue, apparently.
When Affirmative Action and EEOC 1st came on the scene, they were needed and they served a useful purpose to bring the pendulum back from an extreme case where blatant discrimination in hiring and housing was commonplace in America. Now that pendulum has gone too far the other way and Affrimative Action and EEOC are being perverted from their original intent. They weren't intended as a mechanism to punish white men, nor to discriminate against white men.
I argue that they have reached the end of their useful lives and should be scaled back, and updated. The generation of white men who were running things when AA and EEOC began have either retired or died. The US is a different place now thanks in part to AA and EEOC. I believe that the time has come to allow peoople to hire the most qualified based on qualifications, not taking race, gender etc into account. Go look in a Chinese or a Mexican restaurant--how many white folk do you see working there. Go look in a government office where a lesbian has become the manager--how many white men or even straight women do you see working there. Why is it legal for a lesbian to hire only other lesbians?
