I'm not gonna lie, I got damn lucky today on this stock. Biomedreports put out some articles on this recently and the liquidity followed...

I managed to buy at .49 yesterday and sold 60% at .74 today; this is a tiny float (10m) and the BxA spread is scary big a lot of the time. As far as I can tell, this was the highest volume since late '07, so radar this for increasing interest, imo. GL.

Yes, good point. I forgot to mention this company has some news catalysts expected in 3Q09 for ICT-109 and 1Q10 for ICT-121; it's in the spreadsheet in my signature.

Definitely NOT a chart play.

Looking to get in here, it ran nicely today, so not just jumping straight in, but I agree this has loads of upside. If volume ever kicks in, this baby will pull a Wile E Coyote move up.

dblo, what do you think about the near term for IMUC? It sure can run 15-30% on air due to low float and volume, so I do not believe this is yet breaking out. Looking at the chart, verging on overbought right now, so hoping it consolidates for a week or so between .90 and 1.06 or so. Took up a 1/4 posn at 1.04, with a GTC to double down at .86, will home in on a fuller entry target as the next week passes. This could be one to keep in the port for quite some time, and as such I may only establish a 1/2 position for now. Your thoughts? ITA that this could be a great play, and with it being a headliner in the Cancer Immunotherapy index that BioMed's cofounder started, I like its exposure.

Looks like-
1. Low volume, no national exchange, penny, etc., may make it impossible to sell for "several days or longer" so don't get in if you need maximum liquidity.
2. Board controls 37% of shares, may make decisions other shareholders don't like.
3. Loss of key personnel could have a "material adverse effect" on the company's business. Looks like most of their key personnel in ops are in the 40-46 age range.
4. And the biggie, they are authorized to more than double the AS count, currently at 12+MM. So keeping an eye on their cash is wise, and also locking in gains on the heels of big moves is of paramount importance.

All in all, for a highly speculative cancer drug play, I still like it ok, but want to keep my stake small, and will have to be mindful of exits on runs pursuant to point 4.

ImmunoCellular Therapeutics' Immunology Platform Featured in Report on the Future of Cancer Research

ImmunoCellular Therapeutics, Ltd. (OTCBB: IMUC), a clinical-stage biotechnology company that is developing immune based therapies for the treatment of brain and other cancers, announced today that it has been featured in an in-depth report by Griffin Securities, a New York-based brokerage firm, highlighting the importance of the role that cancer stem cell (CSCs) targeting technology such as that employed by its lead product candidate, ICT-121, may play in developing future cancer treatments. The report highlights the stem cell hypothesis of cancer, a theory that states that all tumor types have a common cell group --CSCs- which are typically resistant to common therapeutic intervention that give rise to differentiated tumor tissues.

The report further summarizes how understanding these cells may be a crucial component of preventing, diagnosing and treating the diseases, highlighting two of the Company's therapeutic programs as potential approaches to harnessing the immune system in the fight against cancer.

The Report states that "Its drug ICT-121 is an example of active immunization, which involves administering an off-the-shelf antigen to stimulate the immune system to recognize the antigen as foreign. In this case, the antigen is a nine amino acid epitope of CD133, which is found on many different types of CSCs... ImmunoCellular has a patent on this molecule and on its use as a vaccine. The company is also pursuing a passive immunization approach to combating cancer. This involves administering a monoclonal antibody preparation to identify the CSCs for subsequent destruction by the immune system."

"We are pleased that Griffin Securities has chosen to include our immunotherapy platform in its report on cancer research," commented Manish Singh, Ph.D., president and chief executive officer of IMUC. "This is yet another validation of our decision to investigate the potential therapeutic availability of a CSC vaccine, and should greatly enhance the investment community's understanding of the pivotally innovative nature of the research in which we are engaged. Targeting CSCs will allow us to directly target malignant growths that are typically resistant to traditional radiation and chemotherapies without harming healthy tissues, which we expect will lead to development of therapies that are not only more effective, but better tolerated by patients afflicted with these terrible and deadly diseases."

About ICT-121

ICT-121 is IMUC's cancer stem cell (CSC) vaccine product candidate that consists of a peptide to stimulate a cytotoxic T-lymphocyte (CTL) response to CD133, which is generally overexpressed on the CSCs. It is designed as an "off-the-shelf" vaccine. IMUC will initially evaluate it in a Phase I clinical study for glioblastoma, which the company expects to file an Investigational New Drug application (IND) for in the first quarter of 2010. While glioblastoma will be the initial target for ICT-121, CD133 is also overexpressed in colon cancer, breast cancer, liver cancer, prostate cancer, multiple myeloma and melanoma, providing many potential cancer targets for this CSC vaccine in the future.

About ICT-69

ICT-69 is one of several monoclonal antibodies currently being developed for multiple cancer indications by IMUC. It was designed using the Company's DIAAD (Differential Immunization for Antigen and Antibody Discovery) technology with the purpose of targeting human multiple myeloma (MM) and ovarian cancer cells. Preclinical data have demonstrated the ability of ICT-69 to target antigens specific to human MM cells without binding to healthy tissues, making it a strong potential candidate for therapeutic applications associated with MM as preliminary data indicates that it directly targets malignant cells without corresponding damage to healthy cells. IMUC holds four issued patents pertaining to ICT-69 and its ability to act as both a therapeutic antibody as well as a diagnostic tool for MM and ovarian cancer.

--Company to Discuss Results in Conference Call Today at 11 a.m. Eastern Time

ImmunoCellular Therapeutics, Ltd. (OTC: IMUC.OB) (IMUC), a biotechnology company that is focused on the development of novel immune-based cancer therapies, today announced additional data from its Phase I clinical trial evaluating ICT-107, the Company's dendritic-cell based cancer vaccine product candidate for the treatment of glioblastoma multiforme (GBM). These new data showed a greater progression-free survival time in patients receiving ICT-107 than expected in this patient population. These data were reported at the Congress of Neurological Surgeons Annual Meeting in New Orleans, LA, and supplement the preliminary data presented at the annual meeting of the American Society of Clinical Oncology in May 2009.

The median progression-free survival time (defined as the time between surgical tumor resection and tumor recurrence) in the 16 newly diagnosed patients enrolled in the trial was 19 months -- 12 months longer than the historical progression-free survival time of 6.9 months. Seven of these 16 patients continue to show no signs of tumor recurrence, three of whom have gone more than two years with no disease progression.

With 80% of newly diagnosed patients (13 of the 16) still alive at a median time of 20 months, it is too early to determine the median overall survival time for this trial. Historically, only 26.5% patients survive two years with standard of care. ICT-107 was well tolerated, and no significant adverse events were reported during the trial.

"We are excited by these results, and hope to aggressively move this program forward by securing a partnership with a larger company to demonstrate that immunotherapy has the ability to provide safer and better treatment options to patients suffering from GBM and other incurable cancers," added Manish Singh, Ph.D., President and CEO of the Company.

The Phase I clinical trial of ICT-107 was conducted to evaluate the safety and tolerability of the cancer vaccine in patients with GBM, the most common and aggressive form of brain cancer. The trial enrolled 19 patients--16 with newly-diagnosed and three with recurrent disease--who received ICT-107 in addition to standard treatment with radiation and temozolomide, a chemotherapy product that was until recently the only approved drug for GBM.

The Company will hold a conference call today at 11 a.m. eastern time to discuss the results in greater detail. Interested parties may access the call by dialing (877) 407-0778 domestically, or (201) 689-8565 internationally. A replay of the call will be available until November 10, 2009, and can be accessed by dialing (877) 660-6853 domestically, or (201)-612-7415 for international audiences, and using account # 286 and Conference ID #: 336119.

The call will also be available via a simultaneous live webcast, and can be accessed by visiting http://www.investorcalendar.com/IC/CEPage.asp?ID=151418

Please note that webcast audiences must use Internet Explorer to access the broadcast.

About ICT-107

ICT-107 is IMUC's patient-specific therapeutic cancer vaccine product candidate that consists of dendritic cells--immune system cells responsible for presenting antigens (immune system targets) to the immune system--which are obtained from the patient's blood. These dendritic cells are then "programmed" with tumor antigens, which in turn provide a target for the immune system. Once sensitized to a particular antigen--in this case, the peptides present on glioblastoma cells--the immune system is armed to seek and destroy any remaining tumor cells. ICT-107 appears to target both cancer stem cells, which are widely believed to be the root cause of cancer, and daughter cells, which make up the bulk of tumors. Patients in the Phase I trial received three intradermal injections of ICT-107 at two-week intervals, starting between 2 and 12 months after their tumor resections.

About Glioblastoma

The high rate of mortality of patients diagnosed with brain cancers and in particular with glioblastoma multiforme (the most lethal and devastating form) is driving the scientific community to discover and develop improved treatments that could increase the survival time and enhance the quality of life of patients. Of the approximately 19,000 cases of malignant brain and spinal cord tumors that are diagnosed each year in the United States, there currently is no satisfactory treatment, and the two-year survival rates are only in the range of 26 percent. Neither surgery, radiation nor anti-cancer drugs, the standard treatment modalities, have shown to date any prospect of meaningful extension of patients' lives.
