Here's what you can do with TDA Strategy Desk.

Thread Starter
Basically i have everything on TDA except level2 for pinksheets and a good screener so i also use EF.

it's pretty much powerful tool because you can adjust it as you like.

Ok, some cool features:

1. Chart looks small? expand it with one click, de-attach it with one click.
2. all tools like chart drawing tools can be turned on and off so u can have maximum view and get rid of the stuff u don't need, here i placed chart drawing on the top left.
3. changing interval never been so easy, just click on interval and use the up and down key pads to change interval (using it with expanded chart)
4. on the bottom right i have time and sales, you can mark it with red and disable the links to other windows, if link turned on then clicking any symbol will display the time and sales for the symbol, if marked as disabled all u need to do is drag&drop the symbol to the T&S window - very easy never seen anywhere else, - same for the chart, u can drop it in there, - same for Level2.
5. watchlist very handy, can make them look diffrent, here i have green ones marked as ones with 20%+ gain.
6. can build custom columns, i.e rsi 1 minute displays all active stocks with 1 minute rsi, if down then 10/30/20 the block turns red, very adjustable.
7. $ volume, another pitcher i added, its only an estimate of the true $ volume available on the EF platform but it is very much accurate, i made it with last_priceXvolume, anything below $10k is kicked out. usually look only into $50k+ if not 100k should be safer.
8. not all the rsi 1 minute chart are being displaed, only the active stocks are.
thats why i have created a custom screener volume active last 5/1 minute basically by "Bar[Volume,5] > 0"
9. watch list easy to handle, remove all symbols at once, copy at once, paste at once, export at once or add a screener to a watch list.
u can copy 1 watch list to another.

you can also use TD screener on their website, pull back all the good hottie stocks that every experienced trader makes it his "pick list" or "radar list" and posts it on HSM to hype the stock - well now you can do that yourself.

you can use TD screener or EF platform to export the stocks u like, insert them into TDA and watch them closely as they move, following $ volume, rsi 1 minute for bottom bouncers, and much else.

another nice feature TDA has in its ticker is instead of number of shares to buy - the $ amount to buy, and it calculates the # of shares based on the cash you are willing to spend, this is good for rapid moving stocks, you can also use the ask as your limit to buy the stock, very easy and everything is live streaming.

Disadvantages:
will not display time and sales history
level 2 has not pinksheets, nasdaq and otcbb is paid service.

what i usually do is power EF 5 minutes after trading, come up with all the hottie stocks $15k volume + 200k shares+ and other cretiria, determine most active traded stocks and hook them up into TDA then continue the TA from that point on, and update the list once every 30mins or so...

how i avoid high risk stocks:
somebody put up a nice stock its all bulish, nice charts and all, high on volume, but low on $ volume, it's only $10,000 traded, that means, 20 trades or less if any person puts $500, it will be more logical if there is 1-2 major buys, and all the rest are small ones, now will you buy into a stock that its liquidity is so low and can drop anytime...? most likley it's a p&d,
$ volume = every traders total amount of cash into the stock.

sorry for the digging
good luck then

Probably talking about EquityFeed

I just looked at EquityFeed's website, they seem pretty expensive - is their information useful?

If any of you use TD Command Center you can actually see the most active trades for the OTCBB, NASDAQ, Listed and Options from 1 min to all day. This may be useful to you if you are looking for active stocks without having to leave your trading platform.

I've noticed that most of the OTC and Pinks show up on Level 2, but some don't.

The only thing I'm having a problem with on Strategy Desk right now is that they don't allow screening for OTC stocks. I've tried to figure out how to create a symbols list and save it, then add it to the exchange list, but so far have been unsuccessful.

When you create your formula, (screening criteria), you have to choos a exchange or index to scan from a list. OTC stock board isn't included in that list.

Yoiu can create a list of OTC stocks and save it,then run your scan on those stocks, but that kind of defeats the purpose.

Not sure what you mean by "How many displays".

Looks good! Have you ever tried the thinkTDA platform?

Two charts from the same stock at a different chart interval among themselves
and the croshair folows in both timeframes. I miss the horizontal line in the upper chart but still usefull for research.

Anybody99, thanks for the great post on Strategy Desk!

I've not noticed that feature on TDA so where is it??

I keep having to use a calculator to find out how many shares I can buy with my available funds.

Has SD not been updating for anyone else other than me?

Sometimes I notice the times and sales don't come in as quickly as they actually happen.

Sometimes the bid and ask on the charts also doesn't update immediately but most of the time it does.

Apparently there are problems with the streaming feeds for CC 2.0 and Streamer so that may be the problem.

Yes the bid/ask, L2 and times and sales can be buggy, but those are really only for non-big board stocks. If you're doing biggies then you should be fine. Unfortunately the pennies are really when you need all of those features the most lol

Right. I've told Ameritrade and when there is a major problem they fix it but all you have to do is bring up the main site and cross reference the prices since the main site always has the right bid/ask.

Plus on the snap ticket now you have LIVE quotes which constantly change and that's the area you enter your buy/sell orders in so that's where it really counts.

I know you can enter orders in the different platforms too but I'm so used to doing it on the main site I almost always do it that way.

Can we ENTER orders in through Strategy Desk? I know we can edit them or update but can we enter them through SD?

Yes you can. You can either select the stock ticker on your watchlist (right click, then at the bottom it says trade; goto this and select either 'buy, short, short sell, or buy to cover'). or click the "T" button on the left hand toolbar and it will bring up the trade ticket.

Someone mentioned the nice function of being able to put in an amount of dollars as opposed to amount of shares. To do this, in the trade ticket window, there is a box that says 'shares' to the left of it with a little button with a # sign. click that # button, and it will switch to dollar amount. It's very convenient if you do not want to bother with converting shares to $ amount etc etc.

This method through SD is WAY more convenient than going to the main site; I used to do that as well, but got used to using SD and I essentially never really even use the main site anymore unless I'm at a computer that doesn't have SD.
