World Wrestling Entertainment, Inc. (WWE) is an integrated media and entertainment company. The Company develops creative content centered on its talent and presented at its live and televised events. Its three brands include Raw, SmackDown and ECW. The Company operates through four segments: Live and Televised Entertainment, Consumer Products, Digital Media and WWE Films.

Couldn't find a thread on this- thought I'd create it... if there is please merge!

The World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) is a soap opera consisting of athletes. There is no question about whether "pro wrestling" is a scripted business that many people consider to be stupid and fake.

Even then, millions of people still tune in to the weekly RAW or Smackdown episodes to see these guys hit each other with chairs, bury them alive in caskets, or throw them off the top of the steel cage!

Over the last few years, pretty much since the end of WWF (due to the World Wildlife Foundation), the entire wrestling business has really lost it's appeal.

The story lines are starting to get repetitive, major stars are leaving the the WWE and joining TNA, and the generation of WWF Attitude fans are beginning to turn their backs on pro wrestling.

These guys were champions on WWE and have left the WWE with Shawn Michaels, Stone Cold, John Cena, and the Undertaker.

With all of the issues that the WWE is having, there is one easy solution. Do whatever it takes to bring back the People's Champion! The Rock needs to be brought back to WWE and he needs to be brought back now!

It is well understood that The Rock would much rather focus on his acting career. He has been in numerous movies since his last match in the WWE and is continuing to work on other projects, but Vince McMahon really needs to lure him back to his fans in the WWE!

The "Most electrifying man in sports and entertainment" is exactly the type of spark that the company needs to get people back to tuning in. The Rock showed up in 2007, via sattellite, and the place went absolutly crazy.

There is no question that The Rock is the answer to all of the problems that the WWE is currently facing. Even though guys like Triple H, Batista, Cena, Taker, Michaels, and Y2J are still around... nobody brings the people to their feet like The Rock does.

The only other wrestling legend that would re-electrify the WWE like The Rock would, may be Hulk Hogan, but he is too busy dealing with his own drama.

I was just wondering if I was the only one who watches this stock? Pays a nice dividend and seems to gap up every morning. Also has very good earnings. Seems like a solid company with ticket sales, merchandise, and toy sales. If this gets back to the low 15's again I'm going to load the boat.

I watch it, and it seems like a decent play at times. I may buy some myself if it lands under $15 again.

I remember when they went public, actually. Love him or hate him, I respect McMahon's business savvy.

Mainstream popularity of wrestling is cyclical. They're actually due for another "boom period" soon (next 2-3 years if I had to guess).

I pulled the trigger at 15.90. Hopefully caught it in a little profit taking period.

I woke up late this morning and I opened Scottrade I couldn't believe WWE at 15.15 with the dow above 10600. Wish I wasn't tied up this morning with other longs. Would have loved to pull the trigger at that price. I will have to keep an eye on it tomorrow for any pullback.

I'm thinking about hopping in on this, but I'm still a new investor. Can someone explain how the dividend works exactly? I see it at 10%, but when does it pay out? And when it does payout, does it matter how long you hold the stock?

Example, say they announce a Dividend date tomorrow and I buy it today. Do I qualify, or does it only apply to people who have held the stock for XX number of days?

Taking a nice long look at this. The divy is unbelievable. Need to look into the fundamentals a bit, could be a good a candidate for my Roth.

Filling the gap and currently sitting on the 50 day.  I wonder how much upside is left?  Been chugging along nicely this week with their ex date next Friday.

I was thinking the same thing a few weeks ago but don't want to chase. I imagine after ex-divi and/or divi payout it falls of some and I'd buy then but will have missed the divi. Next time I'll be looking at this again, think I missed the boat for a long term hold at this point tho.

WWE is down pretty good due to questions on their dividend (whether it will continue). I'm thinking about getting in if it drops some more...

Ive been a HUGE wwe fan for literally all my life and a consumer since I was 5

One thing to note, is that the management team behind this organization is literally unbreakable.  Major CEO's (like the heads of Zuffa and even Donald Trump) can attest to the brilliance of Vince.  In fact, President of the UFC (world's fastest growing sport) says they modeled the WWE in a lot of ways.  Think of this..Raw and Smackdown each air times a week for 2 hours each.  Essentially, that is an infomercial which builds up the story line to drive PPV and merchandise sales; not to mention ticket sales.

In addition, WWE announced that obtaining a television station in the near 2012 is in the works.  Certainly they have enough content to make it possible as they essentially own all of the old WCW and ECW footage etc. as well.

You can't go wrong with the company especially when you consider that their two biggest times of year are in August and in March (Wrestlemania is their claimed "Superbowl" of wrestling) ..add in the potential network deals and it seems like a winner to me.  People speculate about TNA as a potential competitor..but they don't realistically pull anywhere near the numbers of the WWE.  Even Paul Heyman (I believe he was management of TNA and worked with WWE for years) said on MMA Fighting Radio show that the TNA is setting itself up to collapse.  They are pushing the old timers that left the WWE (i.e. Hulk, Kevin Nash, Rick Flair etc.) These guys are like 60 and will be out in lno time..this leaves their roster bare with new guys that do not bring any anywhere near the numbers the WWE is.

If you watch WWE (My brother and I have been for over 15 years) you can see the evolution...they are in a transition at the moment passing down the torch from the recognizable names to the younger guys.  The company is profitable on all levels...merchandise, ticket sales, ppv sales, media buys, etc.  It looks like a winner to me!

Charts pretty ugly, reminds me of CSCO

charts cannot account for things that haven't been put to paper yet though

In an interview Jean Laveque (known as Triple H and the son in law of Vince) said that the company is moving towards an entertainment company. In the next year, they will start producing movies under the WWE brand.  It all comes full circle when you consider that many of the wrestlers appeared in Hollywood produced movies, the WWE will start to create their own and even started by creating a small feature starring Jean this past year.

Not to mention the fact that the Summerslam PPV brings in the most hype and attention aside from Wrestlemania and if memory serves correctly, Summerslam is usually mid to end of August.  The past few weeks, they even announced a new global office.

Just something to think about...but I can see how investors would be turned away strictly on charts alone..I just happen to be a consumer for over 15 years so Im lenient to the charts because I can see where this is going

Looks almost exactly like CSCO which is why I will likely take a position in WWE as I have in CSCO.

"Buy when others are fearful........." I don't see WWE losing ground, if anything they will grow IMO. America loves violence and that's why MMA and wrestling is so popular. ;)

I completely agree with you!

It's one of those things hedge funds wont touch because not many people who haven't grown up watching wrestling get.  It has been around for over 2 generations and has only grown.  Sure Dana White and the Zuffa guys say that WWE numbers have dropped over the past year but they also said that they WISH they could pull their numbers on national television.  WWE television station, movie releases and even music will turn this company into an entertainment mogul

Make no mistake, i am not pumping this ..it is just one of those cases where doing something as a child for fun, might turn profitable!

As Dana said, before anyone put a ball through a hoop or shot a ball in a net, two men were put on this earth and they fought for survival...it's in our dna, we get it, and evidently, we like it. I just feel this one deserves more attention than it's getting
