HL - Hecla Mining Co. gold & silver - Page 2

How the hell is HL in the penny stock forum anyway?

This is a big board stock.

HL was back on the move this past week, but i just sat and watched,
never bought back in. With the interest in gold and silver I would
say its still has some room to go. 5-6 range imo

Helca Mining upgraded on raised production outlookSeptember 14, 2009 10:29 AM ET

NEW YORK (AP) - Precious metals miner Hecla Mining Co. should perform in line with its peers after raising its full-year production outlook and lowering its estimated cash costs, an analyst said Monday as he upgraded his rating on the stock.

Been watching HL for a few days, if it busts through 5.00 to avoid a double top, let the final leg of ABC begin. My bid is in with a tight stop in the 4.80s

This thing is going to explode over the next few months if and i say if things keep going like they are i have loaded up on march 2010 $11 calls: this stock very well could be $15 a share by feb or march
post #27 of 42
Wow, HL has done just what you wanted. I'll be getting in this on any pullback much under 7. Might also try some lower strike calls about that far out.

Wow did HL knock it out of the ball park this company is so great!! Record setting year in this crap as economy, pretty good!!

HL still trades funny if you ask me. Price moves heavily with HUI index, gold and silver movement. Looking at there balance sheet, operating cash of 115 million, low production cost you would think this would be a $10.00 plus stock.

I don't know maybe they need to pay a devy to change things but still a great stock to swing trade!!

I'm in at 4.80 but I'm waiting to add more ....on market cycles and not convinced yet that gold will explode more this year. I'm thinking 2010 will be a big tug of war between bulls and bears.

Nice run for HL today and hoping it will break the 6.00 channel. Wishing I would have added more at 4.80 but at that time the market just had come off the last down cycle and didn't know how long it would last. One thing about stocks always more opportunity to add when the time is right.
anybody still watching this one? indicators still have a little more room to move, but the 6.20 area of support might start acting as resistance?

HL had a nice run the last week or two, and might have more in the tank if it can chop us up a flag here, the moving averages have begun to make this look very appealing.

Big gains today, i think they are in a position to continue making gains as silver's new price is reflected in their next earnings figures.

Missed my 7.99 entry on Thursday. Still watching.

one of the big winner lately on my mining watchlist...still on sidelines for now tho...

100 day MA bounce yesterday, a bit high-risk for an entry since you might need a stop almost as low as 8 but if you believe in a snapback in gold, this is 16% short and a pretty good mover in these conditions. I'm long as of about an hour ago.
Sold my shares from 8.71 yesterday at 9.04 just before close... felt overly safe but turned out to be extremely prudent. Reloaded at 8.61 just before close today. Noticed that Finviz's short interest is as of the end of December, and the 40MM shorts were down to 25.3 MM as of Jan 14th. Looking at the chart, seems a lot of underwater shorts unloaded to limit the pain or once they went back to green. Also seems likely the short interest is even lower now as price fell a bit more in the last ten days or so, maybe the short interest is down to 20MM or so. Worth noting if you are long or considering going that way. Watching spot gold and silver (more so gold though) to see if it can hang on, if not it might be tough to play the bouncers even if right now it feels like they can fade the pressure spot metals are feeling.

Really nice bounce almost kissed off daily 200 MA, bot some at 8.238 on the way back up.  Silver juniors should be pretty well discounted here after silver's thumping and their lack of participation in general during the last leg up in silver futures.

Going for that $5 resistance level:

I like the setup in HL here. Lucky Friday mine coming back online early next year, should really bolster the company's total mined ounces.

Lucky Friday positions listed for hire:

As of Nov 29th:

Mill Supervisor (open until filled)

Potential issue for Lucky Friday is this MSHA notice of possible violation at mine site:
