Anyone use Investtools?

Hello,

I just seen an infomercial for Investtools. Since they have a 2 hour free workshop coming to my area this month, I was just wondering if anyone has any comments (good or bad) about Investtools? From what I am hearing (after the free 2 hour workshop), they are offering a 2 full day weekend training course for $299 (which includes access to their website to practice and learn their trading techniques for 6 months for free, then it will be about $59 per month to have access to their online stock program information).

So before signing up for the free workshop, I just wanted to find out if anyone in this forum has taken advantage of Investtools offerings? If so, what is your personal opinion about Investtools (i.e. their free workshop, the 2 day paid workshop, and the 6 month access to their website)?

Hi Glen,

I saw an informercial for another group and went to their free seminar. Then went to their $199 3 day weekend course and took their software and tried it out. Was really nice. After the trial ended it was $39.99/month for one and $19.99 for the other.

During the 3 day course, they used the bait and switch sales technique to reel you into their 3-8 course buffet which costs roughly $5k per class. I was very fortunate and someone paid $28k for me to go. It was WAAAY too much money for the average person and they were taking credit cards, savings, checks, it didn't matter! These salesmen were aggressive, but they did their job.

The courses revolutionized my trading and solidified many things I already knew and added many things I didn't. That being said, I wouldn't pay that for them since there are cheaper things on the market. I'll be selling a DVD set soon that will include my 10 years of trading experience that will be pennies compared to those guys.

But by all means, check out the free seminar and even the $199 course if you want, they'll help you get moving in the right direction.

Investools is a partner with think or swim, as for the investools there is nothign wrong with a free class, but yeah they are there for the money. Now think or swim is a free platform and if you go to think or swim.com and find the chat archive there are literally hundreds of Wednesday seminars for free. try it out you might learn something there also.

As for most seminars I went to a TD ameritrade one on options, This was about a year ago, And unfortunately it was quite a let down, In fact I was asked to leave since I kept asking the "teacher" questions he couldn't answer. They wouldnt even explain you can trade the option itself. They just wanted people to own stock then the option. Then I had a td ameritrade izone account with cheaper fees, and when I mentioned it to the class the td guy got mad. I think they don't want everyone to have cheaper fees or something. In the end I left the class bewildered and went to the hotel bar. Low and behold 1/2 hour later there was the instructor asking me questions ROTFLMA. apparently they only taught him what they wanted him to know. I talked to him for a while and told him to go look at the free think or swim platform. He emailed me a month alter and explained that he was shocked by how un advanced their advanced stuff is.

well some instructor out there must know something right ???

Thank you Jrock, and Timmyb199. I greatly appreciate your input and advice.

Jrock, thanks for the warning about their “bait” and “switch” AND costly bite that they put on people. For sure, 28K to pay on their offerings is way out of my budget at this time. Yet if it is going to be a “bait” and “switch” deal, then I think I will pass on the $299 2 day workshop, because I somehow get a feeling that the 2 day workshop may end up being a living infomercial . . . i.e. like one of those vacuum cleaner salesmen from the 50's, that would get people to buy a vacuum, yet in order to reap the true benefits of the vacuum, the customer had to buy the special attachment set, and the special vacuum bags, etc. LOL! So I am starting to think that the 2 day workshop will be them showing me all of the basic bells and whistles of their offerings, however in order to be a successful trader of their program, I would have to buy extra “PRIMO” bells and whistles in order to fine tune what was taught in the 2 day workshop . . . thus leaving the door wide open for Investtools to fleece me dry in the months to come I bet. LOL!

Timmyb199, thank you for the information about sinkorswim.com, I am already familiar with them. However I ended up passing on sinkorswim.com, because they require way too much personal information in order to be a user of their site, and you have to jump through a lot of hoops with them just as if you were opening up a real broker account (i.e. they want your social security number, your home address, your home telephone number, and lot more of personal information). So just to experiment and paper trade, I think sinkorswim is just way too invasive for me. As much as I want to learn how to trade, I would rather not open myself up to potential identity theft problems, just to paper trade and learn (without using real money). Yet for sure, it sounds like you really had the upper hand in that Ameritrade seminar, where you far out shined the “teacher”. WOW! Based on your knowledge before you went to the seminar, it really sounded like they were ready to try to fleece all of their potential new customers that day, by having such a seminar slated to get the most money from a room with probably a high percentage of Newbies. Though you left the class bewildered, at least you were wise to their tricks.

Thanks so very much Jrock, and Timmyb199!

Glen
