Everyone does that. They all think their stock is going to the moon (which is why they buy) and they post that in all the threads. The thing is that only a small percentage actually move like that and it's usually not the ones everyone is expecting.

Most people dont post them because once they start running its usually too late for others to get in without losing. The ones you see posting the pick everywhere are simply trying to get a few more to keep buying the stock so that there is actually someone who wants to buy their shares at that price.

Don't get down, you have a good one imo in SIVC (I own this also) its only down from impatient sellers upset about a delay in filings. Hang in there.

Money Management is the biggest stumbling stone for new/mid/experienced traders. To move to the PRO ranks you have to learn how to portion your investments and NEVER go 'ALL IN!'

Many on here will tell you that you will wipe out hard sooner or later by doing it, sure you may get lucky several times...but that wipe it will come!

Don't make a habit of investing in pennies when 99.99999% are scams. Trade options or big board stocks. Learn to short stocks or buy PUT options. Use only 20-30% equity in the market at any time.

Good Luck.

Nvtimports,

Good thread!

There have been a few, a rare few that have gone from .01 for example to the dollar range. There's no way to tell which ones may do that though. Overwhelmingly, pennies are death if you buy them for long-term investments. Very few pennies, the scams or the legitimate companies last very long. Even 99% of the legitimate ones go broke within five years.

Bottom line is as long-term investments, penny stocks are disastrous. Pennies are to be traded on their ups and downs, flipping or swing-trading them, holding them the shortest time possible, to avoid reverse splits, trading suspensions and SEC lawsuits against the companies, all which flatly kill penny stocks.

Lots of good stuff in the Guapo thread about penny stocks. That thread is devoted to only penny stocks. See the URL in my signature below to get to the thread.

We have all kinds of advise on how to play these stocks. Look without the tools of the trade as a trader, you are like a lamb ready for slaughter. If you are going to play stocks on the move, you need LEVEL 2.It doesn't matter what platform you subscribe to, but without it , you are going to lose. All the best advise you get from this Board and the Senior traders, most cannot afford to buy Big Board stocks, regardless of all the downside risk they talk about to play the pennies.Playing the pennies can be profitable if you do not get greedy.Make your profit and get out immediately. There are some momentum Newsletters out there and they do a good job on momentum for a day only. That is what you have to learn in this business, what to buy and how to take profits immediately. Not look for the moon, but 15-20% profit, just get out and play the next one. Believe me there are hundreds of stocks everyday which provide the opportunity. So bottom line is have the tools necessary if you decide to play this game.We can recommend one of the best platforms to provide L2 as you have seen advertised on our site. Good Luck to you all, and i just wanted to share the myth that penny stocks will kill you. That is wrong for anyone to repeat here on this Board. If we really wanted to look at a topic for discussion, just see how many SO CALLED BLUE CHIP STOCKS have wiped out entire life savings of many Investors. That's another topic and i could go on all night. However, to you new investors, yes money can be made in penny stocks.. Don't let others sway you other than do your own research.

are penny stocks affected by the economy lilke how most of the other stocks are?
AAAgent,

Generally not the ones under a dollar. Penny stocks are generally considered to be any stocks $5 and under. Some real companies that are in the $3-$5 range with real incomes will be affected but those under a buck generally have no income with few folks trading them, so the economy does not affect them. You may find an exception now and then though but for the most part you don't have to be concerned about the economy when trading pennies under a dollar.

I was wondering about how long it takes for pennies to begin trading on avg if there is a time frame. im looking at a few of the penny stocks and none of them are trading at this time.

Also in some of the stocks i see major gaps/time lapses where there is no trading what does that mean?

Yeah...took a break from active trading for almost a year. Went out enjoyed life and concentrated more on the family.

But the market seems to have become interesting again, hence the return to active trading, although I'm exclusively in big board stocks at the moment (although a lot of them are almost trading like pennies).

I'm glad to hear you're doing well. Hope your trading is too. I've moved over to options, mostly the Dow and QQQ indices. Still following the pennies though.
