You can thank Bush for doubling our national debt.

It is funny, Sarah Palin is a hunter but it was Tina Fey who shot an arrow right thru her and she has not recovered. After all is said and done I believe it will be that first Saturday Night Live skit that will be shown to be the fatal blow.

Johnston speaks on Bristol Palin, Obama and baby
By ADAM GOLDMAN, Associated Press Writer Mon Oct 13, 7:37 AM ET

WASILLA, Alaska - Levi Johnston, who's having a baby with Gov. Sarah Palin's daughter, can't believe all the things he's hearing.

No, he wasn't held against his will on the campaign trail. No, he's not being forced into a shotgun wedding with 17-year-old Bristol Palin.

"None of that's true," Johnston, 18, said in a rare interview with The Associated Press. "We both love each other. We both want to marry each other. And that's what we are going to do."

Standing in the driveway of his family home in this small Alaska town, Johnston spoke about the rumors swirling around him.

The soft-spoken teenager discussed his relationship with Palin and how life has changed with fatherhood fast approaching. He agreed to talk despite the presidential campaign's advice in the days following Gov. Sarah Palin's nomination to avoid the media.

"They're not telling me anything right now," Johnston said as he checked his Blackberry. "It's pretty chill."

Not surprisingly, Johnston was a little shocked when he learned about Bristol's pregnancy, but he says he quickly embraced the prospects of fatherhood. The baby is due Dec. 18. Johnston has dropped out of high school to take a job on the North Slope oil fields as an apprentice electrician.

Johnston hinted he's expecting a boy, but he declined to discuss baby names.

"I'm looking forward to having him," he said. "I'm going to take him hunting and fishing. He'll be everywhere with me."

Johnston, a Wasilla heartthrob, said he wanted to set the record straight.

For starters, he said his much-maligned MySpace page was a joke — the one that claimed he said: "I'm a ... redneck," and "I don't want kids." Johnston said his friends created the page a few years ago and he had nothing to do with it.

Johnston said he has dated Palin since his freshman year in high school.

"We were planning on getting married a long time ago with or without the kid," he said. "That was the plan from the start."

While Johnston provided few details about next summer's wedding, the planning has started: A cousin will likely be his best man, and he has asked two hockey buddies, Ben Barber and Dane Wilson, to be groomsmen.

Barber doesn't think anyone pressured Johnston into marriage.

"If he thought it wasn't the right thing to do he probably wouldn't do it," he said.

Johnston is an avid hunter. He's dark haired, tall and muscular, sports a bit of stubble and drives a red Chevy Silverado truck. He'd be the perfect cover for Field & Stream.

He's bagged bears, sheep, elk, and caribou. Some of the antlers are scattered about his yard. Last July on a caribou hunt he lost a "promise" ring that Palin had given him. He said he decided to tattoo her name on the finger and not bother with more rings because he'd just lose them anyway.

Johnston said he wasn't forced to campaign with Palin's mother. Bristol Palin invited him and Johnston jumped at the chance. It was a whirlwind experience for Johnston, who was seated with the Palins at the Republican National Convention.

"At first, I was nervous," he said. "Then I was like, 'Whatever.'"

While Barber said his friend is a celebrity now, Johnston said it hasn't changed him.

"I'm still the same old boy," said Johnston. "I'm just a workin' man."

And now he's also about to become a family man.

"We're up for it. I'm excited to have my first kid. It's going to be a lot of hard work but we can handle it."

Wasilla hockey coach Bill Sturdevant, who was invited to the wedding, said he was sorry to hear Johnston wasn't going to return for his senior year of high school. But he said he believes Johnston, a talented hockey player, will find his way.

"He's a tough kid," Sturdevant said. "He's taking everything in stride."

What about Johnston's politics?

The young man said he wasn't an expert on politics by any stretch. Asked about Barack Obama, he replied: "I don't know anything about him. He seems like a good guy. I like him."

But Johnston is still rooting for John McCain and Sarah Palin.

"I just hope she wins," he said. "She's my future mother-in-law. She better win."

We don't see her as being a moron, rather, we see her as being properly dismissive of the Democrat mouthpieces in the media.

But that's the theme about almost all presidential VP's. I think Cheney is the first to escape that Democrat theme in quite some time.

I encourage you Democrats to continue to understimate her and think of her as lesser than you all are. She won't be the one hurt by such.

Yes, it's we Republicans who are "pissed".

We're the ones who wear T-shirts calling Sarah Palin the C word. We're the ones at our stand up comedy acts using a string of profanity to describe our utter hatred of Sarah Palin. We're the ones at our washed up Madonna concerts that call her out and say she's not invited and scream obscenities and then show video of hitler and McCain trying to compare the two.

Yes, of course, we conservatives are the ones who are angry here.

The rest of us are just much too willing not to read the Democrat media with a critical eye.

She's not lesser than anyone. She's just less than appropriate as a candidate. If McCain were savvy he would have picked a veep candidate for better reasons than to play it as if it's a chess game. A poorly played one at that. It was a very interesting move at first...until we all got to learn about her.

Why would anyone underestimate her? Look who our current 8th year man is.

We cannot underestimate the undecided, gullible voter.

To think American voters can't compare apples and oranges.

BUT...it looks like chances are slim to none that McCain will win. On Intrade.com people are wagering about 77 Obama to 23 Mccain. Gallup says 51-41.

At least she'll be back home to keep an eye on Russia for us

the rational protesters are not truly against her, but the symbol she stands for, the fear that she can actually get elected

uneducated, unqualified, "charismatic(very arguable)" hockey mom, representation of the USA

destroy the symbol, destroy the people's inflated heads and thus the probability of her getting elected is lessened.

So the democrats are the bias ones now?

Dismmissive of the Democrat mouthpieces? The question was a current event that took place, and the interviewer asked the broadest of broad questions on that one topic. The interviewer even defined what it actually was, when he asked her again about the topic after she gave a very vague and completely trivial answer to what it actually was.

Baggi, have you even clicked play for any of the youtube interviews with her

Her speeches suck as much ass

You'll defend absolutely anything.

The Couric interview was an abomination.

From the way she answers questions it seems to me that she does not understand the gravity of her position as VP and potential president.

"I'll get back to you ..." is not an appropriate answer when asked a difficult question. Either admit you have no idea or give us something.

Baggi is in full blown "blame the liberal media" mode. The last refuge...

I think Jon Stewart is 100% right on this:

He destroys Rove and Papa Bear. It's too bad we don't see more people going back showing footage of these guys just to show that they spew BS constantly.

A lot of folks never saw Hitler as a moron--they chose to see him as 'being properly dismissive' of the jews and inferiors among society. Point being--when someone convinces themselves to believe in something or someone, they can't be shown any different and that person can do or be no wrong... We need voters who can see thru the party rhetoric--see the 800lb gorilla in the room and direct their efforts towards remedying it...

I'm not an Obama fan in the least--he scares me a tad bit more then McCain does...but seriously--McCain would have better luck nominating Jerry Lewis over this trailer park hick as his VP for entertainment value.. Anyone can see she is a clueless empty shell of a parrot with pretty feathers and not much else goin for her...

I think both candidates messed up--McCain should have nominated Biden and Obama should have taken Sarah Palin..and then it would all seem to make some kind of 'sense' for running mates... But each side has their Barney Fife in this race....
