Ah man greed got me on this one today.  I exited my 2k shs from 1.99 position at 2.21 but then got back in at 2.18.  Never got out at 2.14 like I said I was.  So therefore I'm still holding.  Hope for end of day rally frown.gif

DOW JONES NEWSWIRES
Powerwave Technologies Inc. (PWAV:$2.15,00$-0.11,00-4.87%) cut its downbeat first-quarter revenue expectations on weakness across its markets as its customers delayed or cut spending.
Shares were off 20% to $1.71 in premarket trading. The stock is up 3.4% so far this year.
Powerwave (PWAV:$2.15,00$-0.11,00-4.87%) , which makes amplifiers used in wireless communications networks, now expects revenue for the period ended April 1 to be in the range of $40 million of $45 million.
The company told investors in February that it expected revenue to top $60 million, which was well short of Wall Street views at the time. In the year- earlier period, Powerwave (PWAV:$2.15,00$-0.11,00-4.87%) reported revenue of $136.6 million.
The company said network operators continued to be conservative in their spending, while several markets continued to delay capital spending plans. Powerwave (PWAV:$2.15,00$-0.11,00-4.87%) has recently reported a steep drop in earnings and revenue, saying that global economic uncertainty was causing its customers in North and South America, Europe and the Middle East to cut near-term spending plans.

A price level of 1.5 would be too steep of a drop just on earnings guidance. This one is already beaten down stock that is undervalued. I think the price will stabilize around 1.82 at least after the initial dump.

Here is an upgrade I predicted earlier. The company could have waited till Friday night to release the bad news. Why release before the open.

This upgrade is after the bad news, based on Q2 guidance. So, some of the impact of the bad news should be washed off with this one as dip buyers join. I will hold and wait for the price to stabilize.

Lets see.

UPDATE: Jefferies Raises PT to $2 on Powerwave Technologies

By David Johnson

Jefferies boosts its price target from $1.15 to $2 on Hold-rated Powerwave Technologies (NASDAQ: PWAV[FREE Stock Trend Analysis]) following negative Q1 pre-announcement, as checks indicated AT&T order flow-through.

Jefferies notes, "As we feared, management's guidance for Q1 revenues being up Q/Q proved too optimistic. PWAV is now guiding to $40-$45M (down 25%-33% Q/Q) with no further details. The key is AT&T. Our checks indicate that AT&T orders are finally flowing to customers in Q2, but we have not been able to determine if PWAV has maintained its share at AT&T. Due to this binary situation, we maintain our Hold."

PWAV closed at $2.15 on Thursday.

Here is a 6 month chart. I am trying to determine what would be the reaction of share holders to this news and how low can we expect it to go.

55446.bmp

In the last 6 months, majority of the volume came in around 2.0 level, there were some buyers at 1.50 level. More than 80% volume came in above 1.50 level. Given the fact that many are holding it with future expectations, I dont think there will be much volume willing to come below 1.5 price level. So, I would say 1.50 is the floor. With some dip buying, I expect it to stabilize between 1.82 and 2.0.

Let's see how it turns out.

@philo are you gonna hold your position?

I sold half my position at 1.45 and moved it into NEOM at 0.025 as that offers better opportunity at the moment, rest of it I will wait to see, I think 50% to 100% is  possible in NEOM. Past is past, look for the future.

I am happy making money back elsewhere too, dont have to make it back only in PWAV. If other opportunity looks promising, we should go there instead.

It is unfortunate that they released this earnings news at this time and I could not predict that one. Else, with that upgrade, we would have seen 2.50 today. Damn.

I thought they release earnings in the middle of May and nothing to worry at the moment.

chart was setting up nice...i hadnt looked for earnings date ...that hurts...hate surprises
post #194 of 218

brutal. but considering Blackrock is 15% stake in this now might not be a bad time to get in.

Out of PWAV completely at 1.46, did not feel like staying even though it would bounce.

When the immediate short term looks pessimistic, I have no patience to hold for days or weeks, better look for something else like NEOM that has momentum and potential to recover the loss quickly.

I looked for earnings dates before, they had none. Today is not earnings release. They released the news that they will release earnings on May 3 and gave guidance.

i agree with your move...can always get back in if it looks good again
post #198 of 218

Philo I agree with taking your money off the table here, but you were holding tvix for days... i figured you would at least keep some of this for a bounce play

EDIT: Kevin's right i guess you can always get back in. Im curious to see if this makes new lows today

I am picking the targets very well but messing up the exits, need to work on it.

Glad to see NEOM breakout at least to offset some of the losses from PWAV

I exited because I see better growth chance in NEOM, which is proving right at the moment, I took money off from PWAV and bought NEOM, which waited for a month to breakout.

PWAV will take some more time to bounce and more bad news to come on May 3. So, the chances of explosive rally are slim, all we can hope is a small bounce with PWAV
