Corinthian Colleges Inc. (NASDAQ: COCO) said it expects fourth quarter earnings of $0.10 to $0.12 per share on revenue of $395.0 million to $405.0 million. The current consensus earnings estimate is $0.15 per share on revenue of $422.4 million for the quarter ending June 30, 2012.

Mar-Q EPS of $0.15, vs. $0.22, both adjusted, is $0.02 below our estimate, as revenues fell 8% and were below our forecast. Greater regulatory oversight has been a major challenge, in our view, but after sharp drops in recent periods, new student counts rose 2% in the Mar-Q, and seem to be bottoming. Yet, we still think COCO's guidance of 4% to 6% new student growth in the Jun-Q is too optimistic. We trim our FY 12 (Jun) EPS estimate by $0.04 to $0.26, and keep FY 13's at $0.40. We cut our target price by $0.50 to $4.00, 10.8X our calendar '12 projection and in line with peers.

This stock is freaking Charlie Brown. They beat estimates yet dropped. What I'm looking at is the fact they're paying down debt rapidly. Check out their balance sheet - it's impressive how they've dealt with the debt.

 

The old management sucked and when they brought the current guy back, he totally cut costs and vowed to pay the debt down.
