Cirrus Logic Shares Rochet - What You Need to Know

What: Shares of audio chip designer Cirrus Logic (Nasdaq: CRUS) jumped 12.7% in early trading today and might climb even higher.

So what: A Wall Street analyst upped Cirrus from hold to buy and kicked his target price up by 40%. The reason for this drastic upgrade: His checks indicate that Apple (Nasdaq: AAPL) is indeed working up an iPhone model compatible with networks like the ones found at Verizon (NYSE: VZ) Wireless and Sprint Nextel (NYSE: S), which should lead to dramatic increases in Cirrus' audio chip sales.

Now what: It gets even better: Cirrus is reportedly improving its chips to Apple's specifications and raising its unit prices significantly. Apple saves money because the new versions of these chips integrate functions of separate chips from other designers, and Cirrus obviously wins because of higher revenue per iPhone, iPad, or iPod. The only caveat to this reasoning is, of course, that those Verizon-compatible iPhones are still just a rumor -- albeit one reported from plenty of independent sources now.

Thanks man!

I don't think it's too late to get in; take advantage of any pullback because of all the Euro Zone Junk. It's a gift to us longs but don't expect the pullbacks to be deep since CRUS has held out very well during the Korea and EU crisis...........

Good News For Cirrus

As we are aware, Apple accounts for 35% of Cirrus Logics business and it's relationship is stronger than ever. Most of this business was from the consumer side buying Ipods, Iphones and Ipads, now with corporations switching away from Blackberry and moving that business over to a wide range of Apple products Cirrus will see another strong uptick in business.

JPMorgan Chase & Co. will give its investment bankers iPads to provide an additional mobile tool as Apple Inc. expands its domain to Wall Street, threatening Research in Motion Ltd. in a market it traditionally dominated.

actually 35% was long ago. They account for more than 44% of Cirrus logic's business currently. And their smart phone chip set portion of the company is now more than 70% of their total business once you include all the other phones that they are apart of like the Droids.

I don't know if you saw this article before about Jefferies and how CRUS is incorperating more parts into their chipset so they can sell them for more and save space for Apple and other customers, but wow. I know they moved their target price up from $14 to $20, but honestly with the growth AAPL is seeing along with the increased profit they will be seeing for each part, I just don't see how $20 is even remotely correct. I would think $25 at least unless their other side of the audio and digital meter market crashes which would keep it down to $20 I suppose. Anyways, below is the article.

Apple could be 44% of Cirrus Logics Audio Chip Sets business but that number has not been confirmed as of yet. The last Q2 report states that 71% of their overall sales is from Audio and the remainder from the Energy Sector.

Cirrus is doing work for many companies in sectors like Pro Audio, Home Audio, Portable Audio, Automotive Audio, Energy for Industrial and Energy Control.

Cirrus see's their 2011 Growth coming from Energy Contol, Portable Audio and the Meter / Monitor Markets.

On their site they have a really nice Investors Presentation which was launched for the Nasdaq Presentation held in London this morning. On one of the slides they do show the new Samsung Tablet so this is another new market that they are breaking into.
