Yes, you want to use support and resistance lines a guide.

If your stock is at $5 and the support is at $4, then use $4 as your stop loss level.

This is fantastic. I've seen the trend lines many times before, but your succinct explanation of them has answered a lot of my niggling questions.

I'm gonna try and create a few. Cheers!

Thank you for this, I have a much better understanding of the trend lines and it appears that I have been too optimistic about some of my current holdings.

New to investing and TA. Video is blocked at work, so I'll check it out when I get home. From what I've seen in the past, I know it will be of value.

Thanks.

I have traded trend lines for a long time and here's what I'd like to share. The main point of my method is that you should determine a trend first. It's hardly to trust trend lines as sup/res levels when you don't see a trend. It's a safiest way of using trend lines - to analyse a trend, so you can make a very profitable trade. Once you have found a trend, you should sertainly trade in the direction of the trend. Wait till price crossed the trendline (consider here as sup/res level) and when buy on close. Set SL on opposite side of the line. Take profit is before the next sup/res level.

From Stockcharts.com
"...a gap is an area on a price chart in which there were no trades. Normally this occurs between the close of the market on one day and the next day's open. Lot's of things can cause this, such as an earnings report coming out after the stock market has closed for the day. If the earnings were significantly higher than expected, many investors might place buy orders for the next day. This could result in the price opening higher than the previous day's close. If the trading that day continues to trade above that point, a gap will exist in the price chart. Gaps can offer evidence that something important has happened to the fundamentals or the psychology of the crowd that accompanies this market movement. Before we get into the different types of gaps, here is a chart showing a gap so you will know what we are talking about."

Here is a link for types of gaps. It should work for you if not, go to stockcharts.com chart school.

thanks for the video. I like how HSM charts allow you to zoom in on specific time period effortlessly but for some reason I can't draw trendlines on the charts. Other than that I will use it some more definitely

Edit:Nevermind it tells you how (left click once) in the help section
