JPM getting more sellers than other of the big banks on my list.

Keep an eye on the steep uptrending support line from the Feb lows.

If that gets taken out, it means this trend may be ending.

Unlimited leverage, compliments of the US government

J.P. Morgan chase have announced better than expected earnings at 74 cents per share while average expectations were 65 cents per share. Total revenue rose to 28.2 billion, while average expectation was 26.5 billion. They have only lost 7 billion dollars in nonperforming loans. I guess the reason why banks are not losing as much money on nonperforming loans (couple of days ago I heard an announcement that we have the highest foreclosure rate since they have been following the data) is because the US government has been buying those toxic loans. I guess the easiest way to explain this is that the banks first have pulled the hot potato out of the oven and then have passed the potato to the US government and now the US government is passing the hot potato to the tax payers. Well the US government can take unlimited amount of leverage as long as the tax payers can pay for the margin call.

There is nothing to worry about, the economy is growing and we are about to announced the creation of 400,000 jobs for month of April. Or maybe there is a little problem bubbling up. Did we learn anything from the past? That every time we had a period of low interest rates there was an economic prosperity but it is always followed by some type of huge bubble and the most recent one has almost devastated the entire economy and financial system of the US.

This is just my humble opinion

JPM acting weird since the GS fraud news came out.

Sell offs have been on high volume and very quick.

Looks like a good short candidate.

I shorted after the bell last night.

I woke up this morning and immediately covered pre-market. Thankfully, I only took a dip of about 50 bucks since I had only dipped a $2500 toe into it.

I think it's a 50 dollar stock, but I just can't hold on to it long given the volatility of it and the Lehman suit.

in this for earning play

so not buying financials this quarter, but would definitely be interesting to see how consumer banking performed in the last few months, a very important indicator on the credit market as well as trading market, lets see how diversified their revenue pool is, as much as i'd hate to hear a gigantic amount of profits made on trading investments and nothing or even losses from consumer banking, that might be just the ugly truth...cant wait to see how much financial reforms had curved a cap on their trading style

It's a pure earning play for this one.. it always beat and drop and pop up. as long as i'm not holding more than a 2 day i should be fine
post #296 of 456
nah that's fine, i'm not calling you make a bad trade or anything

its just that the credit market is still making me feel unease so i'm a semi-bear on the economy and field of consumer banking in short term

And i'm neutral on the stock

JPM failed to deliver us the bulls, so much for hoping to lift up the whole financial sector, the inevitable epic friday expiration/earning (BAC&GE) sell off had to take off earlier than expected

Bought a small to mid sized position here today at 38.02.
