CommVault Systems upgraded to "outperform"
02/07/08 - Robert W. Baird
NEW YORK, February 7 (newratings.com) - Analysts at Robert W Baird upgrade CommVault Systems Inc (CVLT) from "neutral" to "outperform." The target price is set to $19.

In a research note published this morning, the analysts mention that the company has posted robust results for its latest quarter, with revenues in-line with expectations. CommVault Systems’ enterprise license growth is likely to continue to be driven by the launch of Simpana 7.0, the analysts say. CommVault Systems has issued its operating margin guidance for FY08 marginally short of expectations, which resulted in a 25% decline in the company’s share price. The recent sell-off in the company's stock is overdone, Robert W Baird adds.

Only thing i see is insider sells (but not a significant amount and there have been consistant sales/purchases over the past 24 months) and a reduction in 08 outlook.

An analyst UPGRADED just recently (see first post) so I think this is a fantastic opportunity

Possible institutional manipulation...

I'll be getting in soon

CTLV Annotated Chart (For more DD scroll down)

We're ready to go if the market is!

The post at the top has great DD. Here is more 'readable' DD plus some comments on its strategic position as a company

CommVault Systems, Inc. (CVLT) is our newest Featured Small-Cap Stock. More than 90% of the stock is held by institutions and the company has zero debt with 95+ million in cash and equivalents. 3 analysts believe it is a "Strong Buy," 6 believe it is a "Buy" and 2 believe it is a hold, while no one believes it is a "Sell." Just recently Robert W Baird upgraded the stock's rating from "neutral" to "outperform" and set a price target of $19 (35.7% higher than the current trading price).

The Company provides data management software applications and related services. Traditionally, organizations have used tape backup (a 10 billion industry) to backup their files, but new legislation has increased the requirements, causing tape backup to become incompetent and obsolete. This opens up a vast market as many of the big names such as Bank of America, Ameritrade, etc. are now being forced to upgrade.

Even with all these positives, the stock has somehow managed to make a new 52-week low just last month. Right now the stock is only 24 cents shy from that same price, offering a fantastic opportunity for new investors. CVLT has a quarterly Earnings Growth year-over-year of 76.90% and analysts are expecting a 23.14% growth rate for the next 5 years.

I just looked at the products they offer and I have to say they are in a very tough category.

They are competing with some big names in this emerging field such as Symantec and Acronis and Veritas. Microsoft also has a whole suite design specifically for data management software that Virgin Stores were/are testing last/this year. This is part of the MS 08 campaign that will hit the world hard in 09 or 2010. Being that most of America uses MS product who better to take care of their own software than MS? Now for Europe I can say the Linux line is gaining ground, but that is another story. I could write a small book on this crap only it wouldn't be a best seller so it wouldn't be worth it.

I could see these guys getting bought by one of the companies listed above, but they have a long hard road ahead of them to be a leader in this field.

The stats though look decent enough for a flip. The cash flow is down in 07 by 6 mill, but the overall picture is looking good. I'm gonna keep an eye on this one just to see how it plays out.
