I think every trader has to pay a "price" to be in the game. I think most lose a lot of their starting money in the first year. I made money my first year about $1k and proceeded to lose 50% of my portfolio the second.

Now I have more experience, knowledge and the most important a strong stomach.

The first big (50% +) loss is difficult to take, but you have to stay in the game!

If your refering to me, i follow the rules. no problems here.

Trailing stops on the winners and stops are in place the second the trade is executed. No exceptions.


I know how much I'm willing to risk before I pull the trigger on any trade.

i normally use stops, i just couldnt, or else id be put into closing transactions only for going over the 4 round trips in 5 days rule. I could care less about the 2K loss, i can make that up easy, its just the fact that theres been countless times where i have a few stocks i look at overnight that i like in the morning, and then i pull the trigger on the wrong one. And the number looking me in the face of a 30K gain foregone just makes me so salty its not even funny. i could have been the happiest guy in the world today

It was from a movie the "Bridge" a documentary, they had a camera on the bridge for a period of time and filmed many taking the leap.
one incident a family asked they guy to take a picture for them and then he jumped in front of them. After he took the picture

tekfreak if you're cash only you probably dont have a daytrade rule

best to call your broker first though and ask them.

i basically asked etrade the worst case sneario---

"what if i buy 10 different stocks today and make closing orders for them?"
"perfectly legal"
"so i wont be violating any rules?"
"nope, but you would have to wait 3 days for funds to clear, or 1 days for options to clear"
