SRS - ProShares UltraShort Real Estate (X2 short) - Page 26

A good strategy with URE
TDA rejected my order. Was going to short at 6.91 and was shot down 5 times. "URE is not available to sell short"

I placed a buy order for SRS at 7.50 instead. That's the LOD and it's at 7.51 now, we'll see if it fills. I can average down next week if the Santa rally continues.

I'm getting hammered again today in DRV. REITs have had a huge surge over the past 2 weeks, this has got to pull back sometime and I'll be ready. I just hate holding this position for longer than a few days.
Same here, im in at 7.38. No more day-trades left
Well at least i can say i learned a lesson, dont buy in the morning without a day trade. Too Volatile in the morning. I think we should of waited for a confirmation of this "Santa-Clause" rally ending.
Now i have to ride this out while the bulls are hornin me in the chest (bought with full margin) blehhh

Damn, what was that with the REITs hitting highs once again 10 minutes before the close! I'm assuming its traders covering their shorts so they're not holding over the weekend, but good grief SRS dropped to $7.21 and DRV to $11.96! I had to pick up some DRV at that price.
This thing is at 7.00 right now. Anybody got any idea if this goes down further? I can't believe we are seeing this hit this low myself.
I'm so tempted right now to jump in at $6.98, but every time I buy SRS I get burned. I think I'll wait until later this week because I'm looking for a push up in REITs all the way to the 31st.

Hmmm...maybe I'll set a limit order at $6.75 now and see if it gets filled.

Can anyone believe DRN is topping $160 share? I jumped out at $135 thinking I had made a killing, who would have thought?
I've been in a hurry to get into this thing way too often, and it just goes lower, and lower. I too have a limit buy order at 6.75, just in case. If it's not the bottom, it should be close to the bottom. But then again, I've thought that before. Either way, I think it's a good place to average down for me. I just hope it comes up somtime soon.

I'm feeling that this is the week we see SRS and DRV make their moves upwards! If that nice REIT sell-off at the close last week was any indication, we are going to make some good money.

No question that SRS can make you the best friend of your neighborhood liquor store owner. That said, I think it's time to make some money on this puppy by legging in or putting on some bullish call spreads. Personally, I'm in favor of legging in.

P.S.
Full Disclosure, I'm very negative on the overall market for 2010. We can't just keep printing money and think nobody will notice!

In your experience with the markets, have you EVER seen anything like this before??
over the years I've seen so much that defies reality that I've become somewhat cynical. Are the markets rigged by GS, Citi, JPM and others? I believe the answer is yes. Eventually even these behemoths cannot defy gravity and the market will do what the fundamentals say it should. Problem is that it can be an expense lesson while you are waiting for that to happen. As for the refi's on CRE, if you bought a 20 million dollar building with chump change as a down payment and now the refi appraisal says it is worth 10-12 million, where do you get the extra funds to cover the negative 8 million in equity you now have in the parcel? Can you say foreclosure ????

Thats why I've been watching this and DRV along with some other bear ETFs. I agree with what your saying 100%.

This has been a fun one to daytrade as of late, and I'll continue to do so with an overall long bias.

I'm starting to see what you mean SIMON, I came real close to buying DRV at the low and holding for a bit but jumped in JTX instead. I think this week will be interesting-most will be back from the holidays, curious if they ride a little longer or drop the hammer and start pulling out?
I'm holding both DRN and DRV and have sell limit orders on both, so I'm fine with whatever way we end up going, though I have to admit I'd like to see REITs fall a bit more early in the week, then gaining towards the end.

SRS = Green with dow up 160 go figure !!!
Dow up 156 points and SRS up at the same time. I think this may be a good entry point.

I liked that the IYR was weak today while the markets were up. Lets see if there is any follow through tomorrow.
