Net Account Value $13,534.48
Total Market Value of Securities $350.00
Cash Available for Investment $13,184.48
Margin Purchasing Power $43,948.27
Day Trading Margin Purchasing Power $13,184.48
Total Available for Withdrawal $13,184.48
Cash Holdings $13,184.48

Ok it's a couple weeks into the New Year and I was wanting to start a trading thread for the year. Last Friday I removed most of the money from my Etrade account except for the amount you see above. I found if I keep to much money in the account for trading I become lazy. So I moved the rest of the money into some safe investments.
So starting Monday I will post trades that I make and do the copy paste of the account balance for a running total each week. I trade strictly options... I wanted less than 25k in the account because that is where most traders here are at as far as account balances go.
So stocks I am looking at for the coming week are: STJ - Aapl - CF

STJ - I like St. Jude because they have upped their guidance for the quarter also their European acquisiitions should add to their bottom line.

Aapl - no need to explain this one with Mac World and earnings coming up...

CF - Fertilizer companies are growing at incredible rates... MOS quadrupled earnings from last year!! CF is in the same industry with the same products as MOS but trades at a P/E of almost half....

Tech is getting killed so not sure about the aapl trade will see what the market does this coming week. St. Jude and CF are both in hot sectors right now. Will the trend continue? We will see this week...

Starting this thread also so I don't keep cluttering up Doc's !!

Another stock I will be watching for the coming week is SEED... Great growth possibilities here. It is in the same agricultural industry but in China. Is Seed going to be the Chinese Monsanto? Time will tell.....

what options dates and price are you going with?

Arthur626,

Great! Should be an interesting thread!

You don't play index options, the Dow DJX or the Nasdaq QQQQ, for example?

I play the IWM mostly Guapo if I play an index.... I watch it on a daily basis. It gives me a good indication of market direction thru the day. Not being able to flip it intraday now I may stay away from it as I think swing trades would be to risky.

Will depend on the market in the coming week... With all the financial companies reporting it could be ugly this week. If the market drops thru the 12500 support probably none of these trades will look good. I will post the trades as soon as I make them if I make any.

It's about time, jeeeez. No just kidding. I am glad you have started your own thread Arthur. You come up with some good ideas and give good insight as to why you are going to play them. Stick with your conviction, seems to be working for you. I'll definetly be checking in.

Ok I have to add GIGM and BA to my watch list... Both are down and look to be bargains. Both of these would be long term plays... April or May expirations
post #13 of 741
OK, the Russell 2000. I haven't paid any attention to that one. I'll take a look at it. Thanks.

Opened a strangle on SEED today

Bought 10 QSWEV 12.50 May calls @ 2.55
Bought 10 QSWQB 10.00 May puts @ 2.30

With the swings in PPS SEED has I think this is the best trade to take advantage of them

Opened vertical call spread on GIGM

Bought 10 GBUDC 15.00 April calls @ 4.60
Sold 10 GBUDX 22.50 April calls @ 1.40

I hope it does bury me Timmy!! Or takes off one or other... Thats why I bought the strangle position no matter which way it goes as long as it makes a decent move in one direction or the other the trade will be profitable... Will be watching it closely to try and find a bottom for a bounce to sell the puts and ride the calls back up or visa versa..... I bought plenty of time so no worries
