Meditate and things will start to become more clear. Regardless of what we do, God is not capable of hating us. He is only waiting for us to love Him back!

And this explains why religious zealots throughout history have treated blasphemy as a crime punishable by death.

You're an idiot. I normally wouldn't use such harsh language, but as you're "unoffended by the judgements of others" I don't think it matters one way or another.

Sin

1. transgression of divine law: the sin of Adam.
2. any act regarded as such a transgression, esp. a willful or deliberate violation of some religious or moral principle.
3. any reprehensible or regrettable action, behavior, lapse, etc.; great fault or offense: It's a sin to waste time.
–verb (used without object) 4. to commit a sinful act.
5. to offend against a principle, standard, etc.

Thats why it says Christ died for the sinner or ungodly.
Man didn't know what sin was until the law was given. No won could keep the law perfectly. There are all kinds of sins, you are correct. Jesus came and told the religious leaders they were keeping many laws on the outside but their hearts hadn't changed. Because of the anger and sin in their hearts, they crucified a totally innocent man. Jesus was both God and man so He could relate to all the junk, abuse,we sometimes put up with and take from people. If you really wanna see what God is really like, look at the life of Jesus. Jesus is not the mean , angry ,vengeful God many people make Him out to be. There are many angry preachers and Christians out there and i would stay away from them. They have a warped view of God and pass it on to others. I would not want to even try to serve a God that was ready to get you for every wrong thing. What kind of relationship would that be? I have found that the god kind of love is called (greek word) agape. It is unconditional love. It is based on who He is, not what we do. When you see God in that true light, then it is easy to come to Him, because you are accepted and its not based on your performance. Its based on His love and forgiveness! Now doesn't that sound like good news.

What the Bible teaches is that Adam and Eve sinned and from then on, all their offspring where born in sin. It is now passed down do every person. It's in everyone's nature to sin, or to miss the mark. No one is perfect, except one, the Bible says. Jesus Christ. He came to redeem (buy back)man, and thus was the only one that could because He fulfilled all the requirements of the law and was completly sinless. [/COLOR

When you understand the Bible correctly, it shows us that God loves us all so much that He gave His only Son to die and go to hell in every persons place so we wouldnt have to. All we have to do is accept it the way God planned it.
So why would any person ever turn down an offer like that?

Hey, i know i sometimes go on and on. I think it is probably just the teaching gift i have.

Hello OTCguru,
I want to thank you and your people for giving us the Torah!Matter of fact i have been reading a lot again in Genesis. My favorite verse is Genesis 1:1. It refutes a lot of stuff going around out there.
Do you worship the God of your ancestors Abraham, Isaac and Jacob? I do! Thank you so much for these ancestors. I know that the precious Jewish people are still waiting for their Messiah and they believe He will come to rule and govern the nations and set up His Kingdom. That is so true and will happen in the future. Soon my friend, there is coming a time when you will also see a rather large group of Hasidic Jews come out and tell the world about their Messiah. My Bible talks about God opening the spiritual eyes of the Jewish people to behold the true Messiah. Yes, many of them are coming to Jesus and it has been happening already!
Missionsman, let me clue you into a few things. Gods come and go. Thousands of years ago, before someone decided to invent Christianity we had Greeks worshiping their merry little band of Gods..Apollo, Zeus etc... The Vkings of course had Odin and Thor, the Egyptians being the weirdos that they are leaned towards animals. Men will always fear and try to give a rational explanation of things they don't understand. That's why man worships everything from cows to the planets because in the grand scheme of things we really don't have a clue how it all started. How can we? The planet has been around for 3 Billion years and man only for about 50 Thousand.

I happen to be Jewish. Our religion has been around for about 5800 years. About 2008 years ago a Jewish merchant had an idea. Let's start a new religion so we have people to sell stuff to. So he recruited Jesus to go off on a ranting raving preaching campaign to piss off the Romans who promptly crucified him. Voila! Mission accomplished. Now every Christmas millions upon millions of Christians not only are celebrating the birth of a Jew, they are out in droves buying each other gifts in stores that are mostly owned by Jews. Simple yet brilliant don't you think?

Who is this Jewish merchant you are refering to?

Simonyadig,

Given the power and authority, zealots, since they regard non-believers as lesser than themselves, would surely burn us at the stake or in this day and time, put a bullet in our heads if we refused to follow their way.

It's easy to kill once the targets of their righteous ire have been dehumanized to the level of common animals. It's sorta like putting us out of our misery, you know?

Kill the heathens!

Given my history of being an incurable smartass, which do you think it is? I just thought I would put a new spin on it.

Hey Amohedas,

I just watched that video. It said Jesus is coming quickly. I don't regard 2000 years as quickly. What's he waiting for?

The video's implying the strife in the Mid East is a sign Jesus is coming soon. The producers forgot to mention there always been discord in the Mid East. Moslems and Christians have been killing each other there for eons.

So what's new or different about the Mid East now? Nothing. Turbulence in that area of the world is not an indication Jesus is coming soon.

What a pretentious video. It was a waste of two minutes.

That seems to be what happens to everyone else....

Not everyone can come to terms with that.

More or less. I'd prefer to have my body cremated. It takes up less space that way. Hopefully I'll have a lot of fun along the way, and do something to make the world a better place. Sure beats the "Jesus is my life insurance" approach, IMO.

Don't get me wrong, there is almost no chance (imagine zero on a number line, then imagine the point adjacent to it) that you are right, but I hope you are. I hope you're exactly right and Jesus comes to take all the Christians up to Heaven forever and the rest of us are stuck here to live out the rest of our lives, eat, poop, and be merry until we die. There aren't many people I can truly say I hate, if any, but creationists with power really get on my nerves. If the Bible literalists are the ones who get taken away, that will leave rational people here for the most part. We would shrug, say "I guess we were wrong," take a few steps to figure out what just happened, clean up the mess, and move on with our lives. I daresay Heaven on Earth wouldn't be too far off from that point anyway, so everybody wins.

Tell you what, I'll make you a bet. Every year that the Rapture doesn't come, you give me $1,000, and if the Rapture does come, I'll give you everything that's mine to give and we can arrange for the Interplanal Transport System to run it up to you (assuming God put a reverse gear on whatever machine he built to put all this mess down here in the first place). If you're as certain of its imminence as you claim to be, you should have no problems with this wager, correct?

I'm now somewhat concerned that Orangustang is a Pink Sheet CEO in disguise...

dplin2001,

Yeah, we're born, we live and then we die; and that's it. That's what I think.

So what's your plan? Sounds to me like you believe in God so that just in case he's real, you won't end up in a box rotting with the rest of us.

Believing in God solely because you want to go to heaven won't get you there, according to Christianity's teachings. You're supposed to believe in God and Jesus unconditionally, regardless of what might happen to you in the afterlife. You'll be one of the first in hell for hedging your bet.

I admit, it's a conundrum for Christians. Christianity teaches you had better believe in God and Jesus or else you go straight to hell - the ultimate threat - but on the other hand you're required to do so out of the goodness of your heart, not because you've been menaced with eternal damnation.

How do you reconcile that nagging discrepancy in the religion? Kinda like being between the proverbial rock and a hard place, ain't it? Verily, verily!

Christians vs Lions..... Go Lions!!!

I actually made a Facebook group a little while back. It's fallen dormant by now. I think my theory is a pretty good one, at least as far as one can go with the assumption that Jesus was who many claim he was.

Jesus already came back; he was shot in the back in 1980.

I have a question for all the Christians here.

If God did NOT promise eternal life - going to heaven or however you interpret it, would you still believe in him?

If Jesus did return and walk the earth again, he'd probably be labeled a kook, snatched-up and thrown into a fruitcake house somewhere.

My bet's on Elvis. I think he'll make it back before Jesus.
