The Volume Explosion Thread

This is the criteria I'm looking for and I'm going to ask everyone to adhere to it.

BULLISH VOLUME!!!!
I want huge volume explosions! I want a huge volume spike that dwarfs the other nearby volume columns. PUDC yesterday would have been a great example to post.

Actually, you could have alerted this one on the 25th because that was a very nice volume surge in the making. The surge yesterday was ridiculous and we need a place to post plays like this.

* Please only post stocks that have significant surges. I don't want to set a strict guideline but I'd say at least 2x or 3x the 10, 20, & 60 day averages (Just look for those huge spikes similar to PUDC's). Just use your best judgment and don't use this as a thread to pump your favorite pick just because. I'll mention again, I'm looking for surges of bullish volume. Dips with heavy volume are not good.

With the volume surges you'd like for it to make an obvious bullish move with the initial surge or shortly thereafter. It looks like a good one to keep an eye on considering the spike and ascending triangle.

It's interesting I've seen it happen many times. Huge volume but a tiny candle. My advice watch it like a hawk, eventually it'll break free. Plus like Simon said ascending triangle on that chart i just waiting to breakout.

Cool, thanks guys. Thats what I was thinking, nice ascending triangle and tons of volume but its going nowhere, looks like its gonna break one way or the other any minute.

Stockfetcher has some good volume scans, for those of us without microcapfeed or other nifty daytrading software.

Edit - It looks like you have to be pretty quick on some of these volume plays, because once the volume kicks in it starts running, and I hate chasing a stock up.

Exactly what I'm talking about except now that this thread is up I want to catch this one right as it spikes initially. Wednesday afternoon would have been ideal but even Thursday buying into the gap up would have been very profitable.

I see what you mean, could be another very effective strategy. I'll keep an eye out.

Subscribed...anything you guys touch, I'll be right there shadowing.

I ate it big on MPET today...10% loss. I have to keep my stops tight and quit worring about "wiggle room". Plus if I don't want to wait for the true breakout I should get my head out of my a$$ and wait for the bottom of the channel to buy. If the MF dosen't do what I want...SNIP it like a vasectomy. LOL

Check it on the weekly chart also. Looks even better IMO.
I'm amazed at the volume with NO price action. WOW.
The last 3 weekly candles look pretty bullish.

This also seems to be a breakout on the daily chart so it could be the beginning of a nice move.

I know GEGQQ doesn't exactly fit the criteria I listed, (It wasn't a huge spike on the daily chart) but I found the spike on the intraday chart to be significant enough to be worth posting. It looks like over a half a million dollars came pouring in the last half hour of trading, breaking through critical resistance.

Here's another one with a nice volume spike, and it jumped over the 100 day ma.
