Best Buy is a good company but it has some problems. The CD is dieing and sales are contracting there. The big screen is everywhere, Costco you name the store they have them. The digitial cameras are great to look at at Best Buy then go home and get them online from New York for %15 less. It will take them a while to get clear of these issues. I think the stock price does not have much upside for some time.

I have seriously thougt of doing that. Jeff Mackey of fast money has put that play forward. Every time I try and earnings play I seem to get a fist in the face. If I were to try this one I would buy the $45 Calls and Sell the $50 calls. It would be possible to get a win even if the stock did not move.

Best Buy is a horribly crooked company that teaches their salespeople that they should care about their customers' needs, but bilk them out of all the money they can get. Not to mention their extended warranties (or "service plans" as they call them) are for the most part worthless. Not to mention that their entire atmosphere as an employee is very cultish. They call it the "Best Buy way". Trust me, I worked there for a year as a salesman in college (just a few years ago)...

Because of their crappy sales practices and shady managers, I wouldn't touch anything about this company with a 12,000' pole. Just my opinion.

^ i worked there too and what you are saying is true. Im too much of an independant thinker, dont drink corporate kool-aid, etc. Had too many clashes with management (im much smarter than they were) anyways...yea, i make a living day/swingtrading

Best Buy Offers More Black Friday Excitement for Eager Holiday Shoppers

Nov 16, 2007 (BUSINESS WIRE) --
Best Buy (NYSE:BBY):

WHAT: Best Buy stores across the country will open doors early on
Black Friday to capture the excitement of the unofficial kick-off to
the holiday shopping season. With the National Retail Federation
reporting more than 70 percent of consumers have less than 10 percent
of their holiday shopping completed, Best Buy will be overflowing with
anxious shoppers grabbing the hottest gadgets to kick start their gift
buying.

Best Buy BlueShirts will help customers who are waiting in line
that morning with advice on shopping strategies and gift buying tips.
To help keep the door opening experience as organized as possible,
tickets for Black Friday doorbusters will be handed out starting at 3
a.m.

Creating a fun and organized atmosphere is extremely important for
the Best Buy BlueShirts. Each store spends more than 400 hours
prepping for the day, including a full scale rehearsal where employees
anticipate crowds, map out best locations for doorbusters and place
balloons as markers for shoppers to help make locating deals easier.

WHERE/WHEN: Best Buy stores across the country will be open from 5
a.m. to 10 p.m. local time on Friday, November 23 (hours may vary).
Doorbuster deals will be available from 5 a.m. to Noon.

I went to best buy on black friday a couple of years ago (I was there an hour before opening in the wee hours of the morning). Lets just say I will never do that again. Utter chaos and people arguing over who was in line first.

BBY seems to have the biggest plan for up coming holidays, with retail seeing blood, the only commercials i see are best buy. I'm impressed with the marketing to say the least.

I do like their commercial with the teenager on the phone. Not just a very clever ad, but one that is effective. Too often ads that are cute don't do anything to promote their product. This one does.
