So I'm starting to trade the ES's.

For those of you who don't follow the futures markets, that is the root symbol for the S&P 500 e-mini contract, which is traded on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange.

Things have been going well w. options lately and I've been wanting to test the futures for some time! Most of my money has been made from the indexes...

So opened a demo account w. OpenEcry and gave it a try.

Watch me go!

Day 1:

nice scalping into the close, using limit orders to get a few bottom wicks. Made a couple'a'ticks.

At first was only trading one contract. But then, upon discovering that my demo was for $50,000, decided I will make 10 contracts my standard size.

Not going to leave any positions open overnight.

yep.

That's why I, as most futures traders, don't plan to hold any contracts overnight.

I feel like this is forex, cause my trades are too fast. Too much scalping when I should be patient riding the trend!

With that said, my p/l ratio is very good, and I'm up about 2% on the portfolio without much leverage.

Been trading the YM's this morning.

and in edit, going to class here flat.

I'm trading mini dow too. The fills are so fast and the spread is so tight. It puts forex to shame. Made close to 1k this morning.

Wow! This sounds sweet. I need to spend more time lurking in the daytraders forum instead of the Big Boards forums.

Doc, is the demo free with no time limit?! I bet I could rake in some serious cash here.

Update: Nevermind, I just checked out the page myself. Looks all free and good. I'll have to get involved.

Made close to $3,500 today with $16,000. It's amazing how fast the market turns. On the 2min chart I just short at the top of the candle and buy on the bottom of the candle.

Crap-O I'm down about 3k tonight trying to take these ES's on a bounce...just getting whipped around here and trying to make a situation....

Classic lesson in the game here...just evading my own logic.

Something about the futures makes me less patient than with stocks / options.

Discipline will grow...

Up +4,425 today so my account value is

$54,425

Just made a big trade on the ESH7..averaged down BIG TIME at the bottom of a 5 min channel that had been forming and sold on the pop.

nice amo!

tonight was trading YM's and ES's as well as the Yen for a bit...came back from some losses & ended the night at $500 under breakeven.

And that's fine with me.

Shouldn't have been trading on a Sunday night anyway. Just like Forex: It's a bad idea. Lesson learned.

At one point a had a 110 contract position...a bit much

Scalped it real quick.

+7,190 for the night

I'll post my trades later, this gets addicting real quick.

Is anyone experiencing slippage with OEC? When I do multiple orders like 3 lots each lot gets a differnt fill. I tried AON but it seems like it's not supported.
