If a meaningful low is going to be put in soon, this should be a key level for signs of that, also if not then it could become a nice spot from which you can manage a partial stop.
ED: yeah, can't leave you out of the convo, with your two-part (closed trades) capture of the meat of the move, didn't realize you were short again already! Like you said, important to quickly realize when we are wrong (closed short early perhaps). I also assume mjoke has been short through all of this, and Kevin too, but who knows.

Rando, when you talk levels, do AH levels count in any substantial way seeing that the volume is usually low and only certain people can trade or is most TA formulated on the daily closes?

impress bounce to get back to almost even in premarket. A lot of big equity holders hedging with futures? I think we'll drift higher before testing the 1150? My target is 1180 short term.

slew of selling in beta's at the test of the prior close

Good morning traders!

I dont know why they bother opening the market today at all, light volume obviously, and by the look of things they are bidding it up at the bell.

1150 ES is a fib level as Rando noted, we are oversold, so a bounce would not be out of the question. I expect to see some resistance in the 1165 level.

Well overnight levels certainly factor in, for example earlier this week with the ONL at 1167.75, with price drifting up through the 1170s the next morning, a lot of traders were expecting price to retest the ONL. I think the best rule of thumb on overnight action, at least for me, is that in strong trending market action like we've seen, overnight levels have a little more importance, that low market a chance for support on a retest (or a flat-out low that held for a while) so it was important to consider that price.

Digest all that, and look at the ONL from last night at 1147.5, which is 5 pts under a significant fib level, and consider that level's importance. We probably have a much better chance for the overnight low to hold for the whole day (obviously it's very easy to make that claim when we screamed up over 10 handles on the open). Conversely, if we break that low before close today, or even on Monday day session, it would be an incredibly bearish sign IMO. The reason for thinking that is after such a prolonged period of all-red days, and light volume conditions facilitating a possible rally, if one did not come around, then what the heck would it take for a bounce? Crash first??

sold the calls I bought on Wednesday, I haven't been taking profit as quick as I should lately, probably because we've been going down in a straight line.

Making sure I have some cash on the sidelines incase we do get some kind of crazy meltdown news so I can average down on my initial positions that are underwater.

If you don't want to download a platform, freestockcharts is pretty good, you can log on from anywhere. They have ads and it is a bit limited if you are a good trader. Best bet is to download ThinkOrSwim platform and use that, you don't need a $ account with them, many here will plug ToS for great free charting.

Hmm, feels like a lot of traders are loading for the bounce.

VIX opened on the 34.77 highs and sold off, if this was a spike to 40, I would say yeah, its bounce time, but tough to call here.

GS getting  a big +3% bounce, this is coming off the $87 level which was major support from the Oct lows.

MS also getting some of that action.

Everything set up for a squeeze to continue, metals, currencies, bonds, indexes all aligned for bull flag breakout in equities. Breadth is not even that strong which could amplify a break of the HOD. Damn this market, can't stay away!
