REDF and SIFY, absolutely mental. Almost bought some REDF puts before close but it's so hard to do on such an incredibly strong close. Keep an eye on these guys, they tend to move quickly in both directions.

Sneaky sell off indeed for those expecting sunshine and lollipops.

Terrnova will insist its a buying op

Guy will be honest call the levels, he will say "below 1230 you have to start to worry"

Finerman will talk about selling calls on some positions to hedge.

Seymor will babble about how China is strong

How did I do? cool.gif

What is the target for this pullback on the SP500? News for moving the market will be FED meeting and jobs. Might see 1220 again by end of week.

AAPL had that possible island top reversal around their earnings. Let's see if we get a lot of TA chatter about indexes possibly following AAPL's lead, the quasi-island top reversal patterns are not as strong/clear on the daily charts, but you could make the argument for them being there. Interesting.

How about a 415 test just to close that gap and confirm nobody wants it up there at those prices?

Darn, FSLR held well but APC missed earnings by 2 cents without special items and missed big time when the 4B settlement amount is included..

I will be exiting this one first thing in the morning..hopefully with a minor loss..

I have been watching on my phone most of the day and was a little confused that /es was able to stay above 1260 all day..then all of a sudden its below 1250.  Nice close for the bears.

Stage 1 of Oct. 31, 2011... make a killing on Nov Week1 VXX calls, and a reversal on GS.

Stage 2 of Oct. 31, 2011... dress up like a dirty hippie and carry around a "We are the 99%" sign (still buyin' top shelf drinks like a 1%, tho)

everyone enjoy halloween and be safe tonight - PM me your finest pictures of girls in slutty costumes.

I pointed this out in chat today, and the VIX kind of has a similar pattern on the bottom, not sure if thats a TA type play but its similar to apple's island just on the bottom side. Thoughts on the VIX creating an island on the bottom?

Thanks SJ and Rando for the insights today. It was a good day for a change. I now wish I had not exited my position late today since I just read that Greece is going to have a referendum to allow the population to decide on accepting the EFSF terms. We all know how that is going to turn out!

a retest of 122.5 and rally would be pretty bullish

Im not going to go full bear here yet, I would like to see where support comes in tomorrow 1220-1240 will bring in some buyers IMO.

Once we get a bounce, its the next rally that will tell the tale.

If you see that sectors like banks and tech are not making any kind of rally, ie they are lagging, we have our first clue.

Wildcard here is as mentioned before, if the Fed comes out with any kind of QE3 garbage, bear bets are off.

Exited my $22 MT puts today at +80%. Definitely left some on the table but I am happy with the trade. At the end of the day, profit is profit.

The ultimate disaster will be if they do pull a QE3 and we STILL sell off.

Run for the hills if that happens! laughing.gif

Wow, crazy day and I missed watching it.  I got short at the EOD on Friday in the ES, short at 1281.25 at the moment.  So the monthly chart indicates further buying in the coming weeks/months - but not without a pullback first.  My rationale for shorting EOD Friday was two fold.  First, I believe we're due for a wave B (of 2) pullback and it seems the wave A rally was exhausted on Friday.  2nd, the monthly chart would have no upper wick on the candlestick without a pullback today - and not that a wickless candlestick is impossible, I just found it unlikely.  So anyways, those 2 things in combination made me feel really good about going short late Friday afternoon.  I'm looking for this wave B to carry down to at least 1208 which is the 38.2% fib retracement from the 1074-1292 move.  The 50% would carry this move down to 1180ish.

Of course, EWI has this wave 2 complete now but to me it still feels like we need to sucker in more bears before the next wave 3 begins.  We'll see, but I'm holding my short to at least 1210 and we'll see what happens down there.

There is also the chance that W2 is not complete and there is one leg higher.

Lots of "ifs" out there still, I dont think it is that cut and clear to anybody just yet.
