wow everyone is selling off hard after they report. I guess this is the tune from earnings season this go around. Time to load up on more shorts today. I see 1150 in the cards now

Nice GS earnings report, (.85) and rev well below. And no finger-pointing either. Amazing. Time for them to clown-rape someone on a huge trade to get it all back.

Interesting situation here, not a big gap down but I've got 1180-1181 as a pretty important level, one as an area where price went sideways a bit last week, two 1180 is the 38.2 fib from 1068-1361. One hour 200 MA is in mid 1185s, can ES bounce here or does it need an 1180 test? Latter seems likely, but if we open there and don't get that immediate bounce, we could be looking at a really nice pullback this week, 1168 (38.2% back from 1230.75 to 1068) and 1163 are my next levels of interest.

yep, 1150 is my target as well and what i was looking for after we hit our upside 1230 target. amazing that the overnight lows are within 35 handles of that 1150 level... i was hoping we'd get there in a more orderly stair step fashion rather than an elevator shaft down that we're seeing... we'll see what happens from here, but you'll def. want to see that 1150 hold (which would be a healthy pullback to this up move we saw), for the year end run to +1300. jmho. gl.

Yeah, disappointing earnings and bad news in Asia and Europe will likely bring us down today. GS losses were a lot higher than first predicted and IBM's earning didn't quite match the expectations.  Moody just warned France there's a risk they'll be downgraded if they bail out the Euro banks whereas the growth in China wasn't as high as they had hoped for.

The 4 tigers and Japan, especially China, fell pretty hard today and it looks as if France, Germany and UK are following in their footsteps. Apple's earning already seem priced in as someone said, and only if Steve Jobs himself returned from the dead they would be able to carry this market on their own. Unless that happens or Greece suddenly finds huge amounts of oils today, I'd say the US markets will follow Europe and Asia.

We were wondering what happened to you. Glad you retained most of your investment!

Hope this helped you learn more about trading and it affects you... you were a little out of your mind a couple weeks ago! tongue.gif Managing emotions is difficult without a solid plan and trading strategy in place...

GL and cheers!

I thought about it and if apple was to lose say 3-5 percent i dont think i could stomach that kind of loss so i sold. If i buy apple or any stock in the future im not going all in full margin ever again, that was a nightmare.

i may be tempted to buy shares tommorow morning if they are cheaper but im not sure yet ill have to see how it goes.

Why is GS holding? GS puts at the open anyone? Is someone pumping and hold it? With such a huge loss, I don't think one can support it long...

This is even after cutting earnings estimates by 1/2.

GS holding because the players must have expected this, looks like we rally today.

How is that even? Q3 EPS could come in at just $0.07 cents per share is their new estimate after the cut and  $0.84 loss is still much worse than the forecast.

"Deutsche Bank's Michael Carrier also cut his Goldman numbers. He sees the bank delivering 50 cents per share in Q3, down from a previous estimate of $2.75 per share."

I guess if you lower numbers enough, anything looks good?...who knows what's really going on behind the scenes....manipulation at it's finest.

GS bad earnings = price is up

IBM beats = price is down

Go figure

GS bad numbers were telegraphed out there, I dont think any of the big shareholders were surprised, actually by looking at the price its obvious nobody was surprised.

That was freakin' hilarious.
