As of May 7, 2009, the company’s power generation portfolio consisted of approximately 17,700 megawatts of baseload, intermediate, and peaking power plants fueled by a mix of natural gas, coal, and fuel oil. Its customers include regional transmission organizations, independent system operators, integrated utilities, municipalities, electric cooperatives, transmission and distribution utilities, industrial customers, power marketers, other power generators, commercial end-users, and financial participants, such as banks and hedge funds. The company was founded in 1985 and is based in Houston, Texas.
