XOM - Exxon Mobil - Page 42

Iran starting to get restless, lets see how this all pans out.

Exxon typically does better on stable oil prices since they have a decent amount of refining capacity.  If we hold at $90-100 without much volatility Exxon could have a pretty q1 and then gain momentum on the tail end of q2 and break to $100.  Remember to sell if short term person the first week of July unless oil is still strong.  They seem to sell of a bit on q2 results, but who knows with the pricing of oil now.

hey anyone can give me some insight, thought about pulling the trigger on the dip yesterday, and today couldn't find an entry point.  If there's a gap down, or it sells short at open tomorrow, would it be a good move to go long on XOM?

Thanks!!

I have a quick question for all of you experienced traders, i sold out at the end of the day yesterday, with a 33% gain biggrin.gif.  I've noticed that at the opening bell, there is almost always a sharp sell off, i was wondering if today (i'm back in on a dip) if i should close 90% of my position and then jump back in tomorrow?

I don't want to get pegged as a pattern day trader, because my account is not 25K yet (but hopefully someday!!)

Thank for all the advice everybody, I wouldn't have felt comfortable even getting in if it wasn't for all of you guys

You have to love it. Picked up some 85 Calls near LOD and check out what comes out after market closes. Can you say bullish on Exxon Tuesday!

Argentina's Pan American To Buy Exxon's Local Downstream Assets

Of DOW JONES NEWSWIRES

BUENOS AIRES (Dow Jones)--Argentina's Pan American Energy will sign a deal later this month to buy Exxon Mobil Corp's. (XOM) local downstream unit Esso, turning the company into a fully integrated oil and gas producer.

Pan American Energy is a unit of Bridas Corp., which is jointly owned by Argentina's Bulgheroni family through Bridas Energy Holdings and China's Cnooc Ltd. (CEO).

The deal, expected to close for somewhere between $800 million and $850 million, will be signed Feb. 28 in London, according to a person close to the matter.

Cnooc executives asked that the signing not take place until after the end of Chinese New Year celebrations.

"This had something to do with the year of the rabbit; it's not a joke," the person said.

Esso is Argentina's third-biggest fuels retailer after YPF SA (YPFD.BA, YPF) and the local unit of Royal Dutch Shell PLC (RDSA.LN, RDSA). Esso operates a network of 450 service stations and an 85,000-barrel-a-day oil refinery.

Acquiring Esso's retail and distribution business will allow Pan American to better compete with the country's largest integrated oil company, YPF, analysts say. YPF controls more than 60% of the retail fuel market, compared with Esso's 14% market share.

Esso has been operating in Argentina since 1911. Pan American already supplies most of Esso's crude oil,

Picked up some April calls for a more agressive play on oil. Doesn't look like production in Libya is going to resume anytime soon for rds either. XOM looking good.

Bounced hard off of the newly established 50 SMA today. Might be time to pick up some April 90 calls
post #833 of 868

was lucky to get out on the first at 100$ before it dropped like a rock

to me...chart shows it seems to have fallen through support, and is now testing resistance.  I think if it can break and hold 85.5 tomorrow it's up up away lol.

nice call on that bounce!!

Don't stocks like BP, chevron and XOM usually get hit during rising oil? because it huts their bottom line??

I have re-established a new position over the past two days. Rising oil and natural gas should benefit xom as long as the crisis in Libya doesn't spread to other places where they have significant operations.  Either way the global oil and gas production from xom is fairly large and with the recent financials,I wouldn't be surprised to see 2011 Q1 net income over 10b; given oil stays above 95. I think the main reason we are seeing a drop is the low American dollar. IMO

I jumped in today.

This is a great long term play. I continue to hold my shares. I'm curious how this new *energy policy* Obama has up his sleeve will affect domestic oil companies. It's definitely a good thing that XOM has a big stake in Natural Gas regardless.

Looks like we are going to make a double top. I think we will be seeing new highs soon.

Bought a Jan 12 Put on this. Sold a front month put against my long put this week that has depreciated in value a little. I am gonna see if this support can hold and will have to close my front month if it does. The BEOB is worrying me a little though. Will probably set a stop on the front month to protect any profit I have made on it.
