Patriot Scientific Reports Order-of-Magnitude Revenue, Profitability in Q1 2006
10/26/05

SAN DIEGO, Oct 26, 2005 (BUSINESS WIRE) --
Patriot Scientific Corporation (OTC Bulletin Board: PTSC.OB), which recorded its first-ever profitable quarter in Q4 of its fiscal 2005, has now recorded growth that includes an "order-of-magnitude" increase cash-on-hand in its 2006 Q1, as well as equally dramatic growth figures in revenue and profitability in Q1 of 2006.

"The latter half of our FY 2005 and the first quarter of FY 2006 represented a turning point for Patriot Scientific," Chairman, CEO and President David Pohl stated. "In a process that concluded during the three months ending on August 31, Patriot resolved several issues related to ownership and use of its patented technologies. Patriot has recently entered into two significant patent-license agreements, one in February with AMD and one in June with Intel. These licenses resulted in approximately $13,000,000 in aggregate revenues."

Through May 31, 2005, Patriot Scientific incurred repeated net losses and used significant amounts of cash in its operations. Historically, Patriot has been forced to rely upon equity and other types of financing to fund its operations - often at unfavorable terms due to Patriot's past less than desirable financial condition.

"As we explained in our just-issued 10-Q filing," Pohl noted, "Patriot has undergone a dramatic transformation in operations since the beginning of this Fiscal Year. This is reflected in the financial results which we are pleased to report for the most recent quarter.

Some of these specific financials include:

-- Cash and equivalents on hand - $9.47 million dollars on August 31, 2005 - up from $0.09 million on the same date in 2004 - this is literally an order of magnitude greater in 2005 than 2004.

-- Total current assets - $11.95 million dollars at the end of Q1 2006 - up from $3.61 million at the end of Q4 2005 - growth that represents a near-tripling of current assets within the span of a single quarter.

-- Total assets - $11.95 million dollars on August 31, 2005 - up from $3.72 million on May 31, 2005 - this represents nearly a tripling of assets in just three months.

"We achieved this growth while maintaining current liabilities at virtually the same level from the close of FY 2005 - $1.77 million in Q1 2006 versus $1.69 million in Q4 2005," Pohl said. "In connection with this dramatic improvement in our cash position, we were able to invest in the joint venture with The TPL Group to commercialize our robust patent portfolio. In spite of first-quarter operating expenses of $5.62 million dollars as compared to expenses of $0.51 million in the same quarter in FY 2005, the company still showed a net income gain of $4.44 million dollars over same-quarter prior year.

"This transformation represents a complete reversal of previous patterns of deficit operations funded by shareholder investments and related financial instruments," Pohl said. "This change is built around a new Board-level strategy that has focused on cooperation, rather than confrontation - an approach that has almost immediately paid handsome dividends for Patriot Scientific.

"Part of this new strategy called for the replacement of Patriot's previous executive team, accomplished early in Q1," Pohl explained. "This largely smooth transition paved the way for both the new licensing agreement and the new patent-marketing joint venture, both of which had been blocked by the previous strategy of confrontation and aggressive lawsuit-based defense of our patent portfolio. While the former strategy had once seemed to offer real promise of asset growth and operational flexibility, it became clear in the last half of FY 2005 that focusing so much of our efforts and destiny on this strategy no longer served the best interests of the company or its shareholders," Pohl observed. "The agreement we entered into with the TPL Group in June 2005 results in their taking on responsibility for the confrontation and lawsuits when appropriate."

"We of course must make the cautionary disclaimer that recent past performance provides no guarantee of continued future performance," Pohl noted. "However, we believe that our revenue influx in Q1 increased our cash position to a level that will provide us with more than adequate funds needed to support our operations during the next 12 months."

Re: PTSC Gapper and Run

From another board:

pizza - Of course we need more... I don't think many are in this for the 10Q report... we're in it for future revenues and licensing potential. We are all awaiting news of the Fujitsu4 suit/settlement and Sony... those will set the stage for future cases of infringers of which there are about 145 more. IBM, MOT, ARMHY, Samsung... here we come!

Patriot Scientific 10-Q Reveals Details of Major Patent Licensing Agreement with Intel; Intel License Validates Worth, Importance of Patriot's Microprocessor Patent Assets

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Business Editors

SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 3, 2005--
During Patriot Scientific Corporation's (OTC Bulletin
Board: PTSC.OB) Q1 of 2006 - a period ending August 31, 2005 - the
Company entered into a $10 million dollar licensing agreement with
Intel Corporation (NasdaqNM: INTC) to provide Intel with licensed
access to Patriot's suite of patents. These patents represent the
fundamental core technology behind virtually every microprocessor
manufactured since 1995, according to statements made in Patriot's
most recently-issued 10-Q. Earlier in 2005, Patriot Scientific had
previously licensed this same technology to AMD (NYSE:AMD). With the
signing of these licenses, which resulted in aggregate revenues of
approximately $13 million, Patriot does not need to rely upon equity
and other types of financing to fund its operations - as it has in the
past.
These licensing agreements were largely responsible for Patriot's
most profitable quarter ever - in Q1 2006, Patriot generated more than
$10.01 million dollars in revenue, and closed the quarter with a net
income of $4.44 million dollars. Total on-hand cash and cash
equivalents at the end of the quarter amounted to $9.47 million
dollars, with $5.97 million available for use in operations.
"We believe these agreements represent continued legal and
marketplace validation of Patriot's position that our patented
intellectual property has been - and is being - infringed upon by
major microprocessor manufacturers, as well as by their OEM clients,"
explained Patriot's Chairman, CEO and President David Pohl. "Based on
current projections, our licensing revenue in Q1 should provide us
with the full level of anticipated operating capital needed to support
our operations during all of FY 2006."
In addition, during Q1 2006, Patriot also entered into a series of
agreements with The TPL Group. The parties formed a joint venture to
facilitate entering into revenue-producing licenses for use of the
powerful, combined portfolio of Patriot Scientific and TPL patented
technology by microprocessor manufacturers and OEM users throughout
the world. The licensing program for the patents, including litigation
when appropriate, will be managed by Alliacense, a core group of
senior TPL Group executives directly responsible for the development
and commercialization of the firm's patent portfolios. Litigation was
recently filed against four major Japanese electronics manufacturers
in a Federal Court in Texas seeking damages for alleged infringement
of the combined Patriot and TPL patented intellectual property. The
broad-based claim cites Fujitsu, Matsushita, NEC and Toshiba for
direct infringement, contributory infringement, and inducing the
infringement of at least three of the 10 patents in the jointly held
patent portfolio.
Patriot - through the joint venture with TPL - intends to leverage
the recently signed license agreements, using them as a starting point
- an open door expected to lead to additional future revenues from
negotiated licenses with other companies currently infringing on the
technology. "Working through and with the licensing professionals at
TPL, rather than creating and supporting our own in-house licensing
team, makes sense as a prudent way for Patriot to seek and obtain fair
value from the currently unlicensed users of our intellectual
property," Pohl said.
Patriot's patented intellectual property is used in a wide variety
of end-user products including personal computers, servers,
workstations, home theater systems, digital TVs, video games, DVD
Recorders/Players, mobile handsets and automotive electronics. Global
sales of end products deploying chips using technologies protected by
these jointly held patents are estimated to be greater than $200
billion annually. In addition to these licensing and joint venture
operations, Patriot is engaging industry technical and marketing
experts to evaluate Ignite(TM) - the company's small, high-speed,
low-power consumption microprocessor - and Inflame(TM), its dramatic
array microprocessor technology.
