Hello is anyone on this board anymore? I've been watching this stock bounce very far up then far down , and repeat. It looks like if you time it out right than you could fill your pockets, am I wrong?
Please share your opinions.!

The reason is that all the excitement over ethanol has died down. Great returns were had in early spring into the summer to those who got out early, but now public opinion has shifted and people are all losing faith in ethanol, especially since most of the companies haven't turned a profit yet. Personally I never quit believing in the potential of ethanol, but I knew everyone else would so the first round (this year) I just played the hype. If you weren't playing it then, you missed the boat, but now that the stock prices are all low, if you think ethanol really is the next big thing, you could make some serious cash with an astute investment in this sector. Everyone who jumped on the bandwagon and started calling ethanol a fad could easily be wrong, you never know.
And yes, people do try to time the bounces and "fill their pockets." Some people specifically look for stocks in a "trading range" (bouncing up and down and not trending) in order to do this. I think it is easier than it looks though, not to mention incredibly risky, too risky for most people. Which stock are you talking about?

Might be time to get this thread going again. look at all the Ethanol plays that had big days today in anticipation.

WASHINGTON (Dow Jones)--U.S. President George W. Bush in his State of the Union address on Tuesday is likely to promote fuel efficient vehicles, ethanol and new technologies as a way to address global warming and reduce the country’s dependence on oil, officials said Friday.

White House aides have maintained that energy will be one of the central themes in the annual address before Congress, along with the Iraq war, health care, immigration and education issues.

The White House has refused to release specifics about the speech. But spokesman Tony Snow said Thursday that “this president believes deeply in the importance of trying to innovate our way out of a situation where we’ve been dependent on an oil source that can render us insecure.“

HEGP To be selling their own branded e85 Ethanol at their own fuel station. Watch for news. It could be very big as things go forward. Tax break city for companies working in this field.

Also have their own blend of biodiesel

My How Time Changes Things

It is interesting to read a thread like this that goes back, a couple years I think, and see how things have changed. Who would have guessed that with as hot as this sector is we would have investors pulling out and plants being put on hold. Blame the government involvement.

Ethanol is not the answer unless you like higher food prices and you want the oil companies to own all the farm land. Corn and soy beans are major feed stocks for livestock so there goes meat prices. you think $4 a gallon for gas is bad what about $5 a gallon for milk?
