More bad news spain wants out:

While the two major parties and a number of the minor parties agree on the importance of renewables, sustainability and carbon-free generation, the main dividing topic is the future of nuclear power.

NUCLEAR DIFFERENCES

Zapatero, who is stepping down as Prime Minister, announced in 2009 that the government would close Spain's oldest reactor, the 460 MW Santa Maria de Garona in 2013, the only reactor remaining from the era of dictator Francisco Franco.

The decision was seen at the time as a concession to the party's allies, which helped secure it an upper-house majority. However, from another point of view, the extension of the concession was seen merely as "passing the buck" to the next government.

Nonetheless, Zapatero's successor as party leader, Rubalcaba has said that he intends to close all nuclear power plants as and when is necessary. The stance is echoed by the outgoing Industry Minister Miguel Sebastian, who in 2009 announced that Spain would not build any more nuclear plants.

The opposition PP on the other hand has modeled itself as pro-nuclear, and the potential life extension of Garona is on the agenda. PP leader Rajoy said recently that he would revisit the decision to close Garona and likely keep it open until 2019, as recommended by the nuclear watchdog, Consejo de Seguridad Nuclear.

Among Spain's minor parties, at least two are in favor of totally eliminating nuclear generation while the Union Progreso y Democracia party has a target of 45% of nuclear generation in the country's mix, alongside 45% from renewable generation. The CIS poll forecasts UPyD might win 2.9% of the popular vote.

yes its getting uglier day by day...

Just like Germany and Japan, they say whatever they want before the election.  When they are in power, they'll realize their plan is impossible due to the efficiency of nuclear energy.  With the current euro debt crisis going on, I cannot see them really going to spend almost double to switch to other sustainable energy source.

Don't forget all those "sustainable" sources have their own environmental problems, e.g. Wind Turbine is notorious for killing birds, Hydro would raise the water temperature and kills off fish and shrimps, etc.

i agree nuclear is the future..it takes simple math to see that the other sources are not sustainable

but UUU.to..will get ass fucked in the comming months...anyone holding 3$ or below..should be a massive selloff

we are getting 1.massive market selloff

2. nuclear not being #1 energy source/global slowdown

3. countires outta the blue leaving nucs

4. the buyout of mantra (this will happen soon, there are lots of indications: 1. ccj buying harthor, 2. increase in free cash 3. increase/selling of bond and futue russian listing)

the titanic will hit 1$ in a bad market

we are range bound for another 5-6 months...from $2 even to $3.45

yes keep this on the radar, i'm buying this when it hits the range $1.5 to $2 biggrin.gif

breaks book value again..no bounce...

looks dead...the charts have entered a channel...theres no aggressive movement upwards..aside for 1 day..but has fizzled big...

lower low..means 1.90s to 1.80s and 1.75

buyout in peoples mind
