Question on Scottrade Pre-market/ After Hour Trading

I noticed Scottrade has started Pre market and after hours trading .I am wondering how effective is this in getting before an expected Gap at the Opening on regular hours?

Anyone had any luck or experience doing this?

It has been difficult for me because Scottrade will only do limit orders on BB and PK. It sucks because you get partially filled many of the times and get screwed out of multiple commissions. If you could place market orders this would not happen. You can only place market orders on marginable stock with Scottrade. You can try "All or None," but then the orders rarely get filled. It is really frustrating because I miss many opening gaps and runs.
