You think you could make a phone call and tell us what the earnings are gonna be like.

Charts looks extremely bullish, looking to start a position on any pullback, 16ish would be ideal

i wouldnt touch this till after earnings... its gone up to far to fast...

i would have sold long ago on this run up...

Most of the platinum in the world comes from South Africa. There is very little platinum in any other parts of the world. If the mines in South Africa start pumping it out you are lost as Still Water does not produce that much. So this stock is risky. My brother in law does not keep up on the mine so he really has no idea how they are doing. Last time I talked to him about it he still had some shares but was not all that excited about it. I'm sure he is happy about this runup.

The real fact of the matter is - platinum supply/demand was in a deficit before the South African producers began having their troubles, this recent upswing is because the market is getting tighter . Those requiring platinum group metals for their products ( auto catalytic converters the biggie) are scrambling to get enough metal in their storehouses to assure production for the next while. ALL analysts i have read have said there will be platinum / rhodium shortages for at least two years.
AND you can expect rhodium to go over 10,000$ US an ounce here in the near future- yes thats right - over 10x the price of gold.
SWC and other producers get rhodium as a byproduct and of late that rhodium has been paying all mining costs.
SWC still has a lot of upside from here- and i wouldnt put much thought into the revenue numbers from last year- the market looks forward not back.
By the way - how far does platinum have to run?? Lets look at rhodium - 10 years ago rhodium price was actually less that than platinum , selling for about 200$ an ounce. Latest price is 8960$ US an oz.
So it has gone up about 45 times OR 4400%

Wonder if he's selling into this runup? Im thinking about opening a short with a stop at 19ish to catch a quick correction in this massive move. But longterm im with mouserman thinking this stock could have more to run.

BILLINGS, MT--(MARKET WIRE)--Feb 25, 2008 -- STILLWATER MINING COMPANY (NYSE:SWC - News) today reported net income for the fourth quarter 2007 of $0.4 million, or less than $0.01 per fully diluted share, on revenue of $148.7 million. This is lower than the $2.8 million of net income ($0.03 per fully diluted share) on $175.5 million of revenue reported for the same period in 2006.

Party might come to an end tomm. id watch profit takers bail maybe, im short but will take a quick profit, I dont think the run is done and could reach its old highs later this year

NYMEX Sets Daily Volume Records for Silver and Palladium Futures on CME Globex(R)
NEW YORK, Feb. 28 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- The New York Mercantile Exchange, Inc., a subsidiary of NYMEX Holdings, (News) Inc. , today announced that it set daily volume records yesterday for silver and palladium futures traded on the CME (News) Globex electronic trading platform.

NYMEX launched its physically settled futures contracts for trading on CME Globex during regular open outcry trading hours on September 5, 2006, following its initial offering of financially settled, standard-sized and NYMEX miNY energy futures contracts for trading on CME Globex on June 12, 2006. Not going to hurt SWC's bottom line .

monster hasnt had a red bar in 11 days. wonder when itll come back to reality or when commodities in general will.

Platinum hit a new record high today-2247$US an oz. , rhodium also nudging 9000US per oz and palladium up again to a new five year high at $ 587US per oz. And from what i am reading - no signs of a turnaround in the deficit situation in sight. SWC the only primary platinum producer in all of North America and right now their product is in very, very tight supply.
NOW, i would think they should see a pullback here soon as some profittaking probably overdue, but looking ahead i see higher prices yet for SWC. SWC closed at 22.16 up from their 52 week low of 8$ , just six short weeks ago.
