Pffft...I'm sure the CEO sees the value of his company being worth $40+, and I'm not going to argue against his case, however for anyone who has the cahones to get in at these levels, $26 looks pretty damn sweet!

Samsung must renew their patent usage with Sandisk very soon, and supposedly Sandisk is jacking the price up real high because they know how much Sandisk needs it. The patent royalties are expected to be 1.5 billion over the next few years without taking into consideration the X4 technology, which every cell phone company needs.
If Samsung wants to continue supplying Apple with ipod and iphone flash SSD, they must comply.
Right now there are many companies who should buy Sandisk, Toshiba, Samsung, Intel, and many more.
The only obstacle now is that CEO wants 40$+ for his company, and Samsung only wants to offer $26.
They are not just going to reinstate their offer this week, next week, or this month... do you know how bad that would look? they would get investigated for insider trading. Furthermore, they are not going to reinstate the offer at 26, either... they need time to buy (or have their cronies buy) sndk at these cheap prices... so they won't say a peep for a while. And I am guessing 2 months. Meanwhile, I think this goes to 6.50.

There have been a lot of times where companies say they are walking away from any potential deals, only to offer more money the next week.

It is probably in Toshiba's interest to buy it right now with the Yen so strong, the Korean Won is pretty weak.

Toshiba already has promised Sandisk 1 billion, so by offering like 7 billion total, they can totally stick it to Samsung.

Samsung will need Sandisk to stay the biggest NAND producer. They need it for TV's, computers, cell phones, mp3 players, deals with Apple etc.

I think Sandisk needs to pressure Toshiba to make a bid, in the end Toshiba makes money when they negotiate what happens to their 1 billion dollar stake, which will probably be compensated handsomely by Samsung.

Samsung needs to get on the ball asap if they don't want to pay royalties forever, especially when x4 becomes the standard for everything needing a lot of space.

the stock has been lagging in the recovery, it's just now catching up.
It was upgraded by cowen last week and today by Goldman Sachs.
There is still a high probability of a buyout over $20 so this should do well near term.
