Now i have a real Oanda account, but i think my major trade account will last
at TOS.

eur/usd
2 pip spread for normal trading or
1 pip spread if you choose to trade with commission (1$ per 10 000 units)

Not so worse, but much more stable..

I'm new to FOREX. Would anyone recommend me a broker to paper trade FOREX? I'm looking for a good one to open a real account in the future.

Oanda.com and Think or swim are both good for paper trading.. Sorry i didnt see your request sooner. But hopefully you read back a few pages and found one by now..

Does anyone know if there is a place that lists ThinkOrSwim's average pip spread for all currencies?

I currently watch:

1. EUR/USD
2. GBP/USD
3. USD/CHF
4. NZD/USD
5. AUD/USD
6. AUD/CAD


The AUD/CAD has by far the worst spread averaging 4-5, and on occasion 6pips. Plus, I just don't like it's fuzzy look. I wish ThinkOrSwim would put a search function for forex on their platform to search for low spread currencies. You would think it would be something they could advertise on TV.

I don't know if there's a place that has their spreads listed, but have you looked to OANDA? I was trading the AUD/CAD last week and the spread was about 3 pips during the NY hours.

I wish they would just give us one consolidated feed. One spread for everyone no matter where you go.

any time i am looking for software or services i google...."top ten (or five) _____". there is all kind of reviews online so do a search like that. however, do not take one websites advice as some get paid to rank a service or software at a certain number. look at a bunch of them and then use you educated judgment.

I installed Oanda's MT4 and it's pretty cool. New daily candles form at midnight EST with Oanda, while other brokers use 5pm EST (I think). Does anyone know which is better, or used more than the other? I only look at 15 min and under with Oanda anyway, so it's not a huge deal to me, just curious. 

 

Also, I've been trying to shop around for another broker but can't seem to find one that doesn't have a million horror stories about it. Any suggestions? 

I was used to FXCM's daily candles when I installed Oanda's MT4. The different daily candles threw me at first. I like the 5:00 pm EST daily better since it fits my schedule better. I get off work at 4:30 so I can check when I get home, and the H4 candles fall at good times too (I'm CST). As to which is used more, I dunno, but you've got me curious too.

I've looked into both FXCM and IBFX and they don't have a very clean track record. Both have gotten into some deep doodoo for fraud and illegal activity before, so I'll probably stay away from them. You can read all about it on the National Futures Association website. 

Thanks, I'll check that out. I'm mainly using FXCM for a live demo. By that I mean I'm only playing for pennies while I learn Forex. I found when I was on a pure demo account that I would try trades "just because" or "just to see what happens." I don't want to do that when I go live, so I went to FXCM for their micro lots. It's real money, but only a little bit, and is more like what trading live will be. For me, anyway.

Can someone tell me which law is that? A Us law or some how to screw the people bilateral cooperation..

 

 

It's probably because of the Dodd-Frank bill which restricts leverage for U.S. residents. Oanda's just keeping you guys separate from us so you don't have the same restrictions we do. 

yeah, but they plan here a forex transaction fee, so i think that are also preparations for how to easy collect us.

Still now they did not had access at customer lists of Us Brokers.. That will change now..

I have been trading futures for a while, and am now getting into forex.  I use quote tracker, but have heard it is going away soon, and don't want to learn on something that is about to change. Anyone use quote tracker, and can suggest a chart provider with a setup similiar?? What are people's favorite charts?  I really dont like TOS that much (at least for futures).

I have been messing with it more and more, and am starting to like it I guess. It is just  tough to use one chart for years, then try to switch.
