Teach me Technical Analysis!!! - Page 14

Just purchased Trading in the Zone.. hope this helps..

Trading in the Zone is a must read for any trader IMO. It's not a fun read...in fact I found it annoying at times because it's very repetitive. It's written that way to drill into your skull though.

I think it is not working properly. Analyzed for a long time technical analysis. No binding to the market. There is binding to the schedule, the market is not binding

very good market profile read, this one is a real driller also

Take your time learning cause in this market everything we learned over the years is useless. In a more stable market TA and FA work OK but todays market is a different animal. Its controlled and manipulated by HFT,big Corps,Gov.etc.They are relying on individual investors to study charts and other indicaters then pull the rug out once ther`re in.Happens every week.

Count me in the crew that learned a ton of information in this thread. Thanks a bunch!

In reference to "head and shoulders", when the neckline is penetrated, it is almost always the trend the there is a penetration downwards? Is there ever an instance of a "third shoulder", where there is another bounce off the neckline?

Just becoming a "wiz" on tons of indicators won't make you profitable. The most important part of the game is your psychology. Also the more people look to indicators to prove their bias the worse off they will be. Learn to read a naked chart first because price action and raw S&R is the most important IMO.

Does that book explain this stuff? I am thinking about picking it up today

Can you talk a little more about different time frames for charts? What do you usually use for short term investing(like 4-6 months)? Thanks!
Short term investing is 10seconds to 4hrs.

What you mentioned, 4-6 months, is long term by most standards.

You should be using the daily chart, 60min, and 15min to find your entry or exits.

Still learning a ton no where near ready to invest, but once I do short term seems like something I would like to do some of.

Is there like a minimal requirment of how much money you need to invest to make a short term trade worth while?

Is there like a software that you people use instead of using Yahoo Finance, and MSN Money. When the market is open i want to see the charts etc live. not with a few minute delays you know..

Freestockcharts.com is what I use and the tools there are excellent.

Thank you for the information. I'm going to study this and try to learn it well. I've dabbled in trading for years, but this is concrete and clear.

Great to see so many new investors starting off on this thread. I wish I knew about this stuff when I started, it would have saved me a lot of headaches.
