FYI....If you would like to do some research on brokers you are thinking of opening an account with, you can go to www.nasdbrokercheck.com and do a lookup on the broker then click on the Deliver Report icon on top. The report includes important disclosures by the broker firm (or individual) and any pending legal issues

Scottrade all the way baby. (i sometimes use and use 2 use CITIBANK for trading, DAMN!!! they charge $25 back and forth and do not allow u to by more then 999,999 shares and are limited almost from all pennies.)

So Scottrade gets my vote :-Dhehe

Choicetrade

I've been using Ameritrade for about 3 years now and have no complaints. Customer service is excellent, orders get filled fast, steaming charts, L2 and command center works great for me.

Ok I do have one complaint, I hate the colors, lol.

Oh and to the person that complained about not being able to trade for several days... that's because you dont have a margin account and it takes time for the money to settle. You'll have that problem with any broker if you dont have a margin account.

Sharebuilder sucks! all IPO, penny stocks, and anything slightly abnormal to Mom and Pop's ETFs are unavailable to buy. Moreover, they charge 14.95 for trades. I am looking for a brokerage to buy penny stocks and from what I can tell by reading this the best option seems to be Ameritrade because of its advantage on pennies over ScottTrade. Nonetheless, if anyone has any better suggestions, do speak up.

Can you do stoploss orders with Ameritrade? I am considering choicetrade but, no offense, most of the kids reccommending it are newbs (as am I of course).

I am considering choicetrade however, no offense, everyone who pushes it is a newb (as I am myself though).

Questions about Ameritrade:

Can you stoploss?

Does it cost more to apply for an account w. margins and options opposed to exclusively cash?

quite the contrary.

if you want a n00b interface, use something besides Choicetrade..otherwise you'll be lost.

Choicetrade is direct and to the point. No fluff. I use my Scottrade account along with Quotetracker for tracking stocks and I use Choicetrade to buy/sell.

No..Choicetrade only offers a java interface through thier website for free, I can't get Choicetrade's free quote servers to work with QT.

I am whoring out my Scotty account for quotes.

What is the cheapest broker for penny trades. I.E who charges the least for stocks under $1. After so much searching ive pretty much come up with nothing.I use tradeking at the moment.they charge 1cent on each share priced less than $2. I think they provide a great service but is they're another broker who is cheaper and provides the same?

Thanks

You CANNOT place a stoploss on OTC or Pinks using Ameritrade.

Thats my only gripe with Ameritrade right now. Althought now that it is TD Ameritrade I hope the fees don't increase. I'm cool with 10.99 flat.
