Hello!
I've been on here for a few years now, however I've been out of trading for some time! I registered a few years ago and was actively trading stocks(mostly tech stocks) however, I am very much still a beginner. I made some good trades with actual cash money and turned $2000 into just over $4000. I sat on that money I had made for a year or so because I was actively trying to buy my first house. At that point, I needed the money and no longer wanted to risk losing it.. Eventually I found a house and used the money, along with some other money I had saved up for a down payment!
I've been living in the house now for just over 6 months and I've got the itch again.. This time I've got a different approach. Before I was trading with a bit more risk.. and I did well. This time I am planning to go a bit longer on my positions and try to play it a bit safer. The idea is to try and make money and save it, diversify and take on long positions. Eventually sock some cash away as a supplement for what would be my 401k.
Now, obviously from the beginning it's going to be hard to diversify $1000 too much. I'll be adding cash to my account monthly to help get me started. While I save I have started paper trading again. Also I'm reading a book on market analysis called: Technical Analysis of the Financial Markets: A Comprehensive Guide to Trading Methods and Applications.
By no means do I expect this to be easy or a for sure thing. The result I had before was great, but I know results will vary. This will be my journal of moves I've made. For the time being these will be paper trades until further notice.
Feel free to comment! I love reading the trading journals of others.
To start I've setup and account starting with $1000 and commissions set at $7 per trade.
I've been reading around and it's seems most people thing FB is falling. I tend to agree that the IPO was bloated and it's got no where to go but lower. The past 2-3 days FB has been in the green, although today it was in the green half the day and died near the end.
News for FB states more shares will come to market (no source at this time), and people are speculating it will drop to mid teens and some say sub teens.
8/5/12 - Shorted 45 shares @ $21.83. Currently sitting at $20.72.
