Mechanical Phenomenon

Thread Starter

I'm going to track my performance with a single trade setup

that occurs over and over again. Whenever I trade it, I will

post my P/L in here. This trade will be an all in/all out trade.

Entry is determined by time and price and exit is determined by price alone.

Got my mechanical trade signal today and it's the only trade I made

MAE 0

MFE 1

This is the bare minimum reward I will take on this trade.

OK, so I could have asked but I'll post in case someone else is curious. What's MAE and MFE and is this only going to be ES? Thanks.

I bookmarked it. Forgot all about that thread and I also wonder if you noticed the last post? I wonder what happened to traderf1.

Thanks Ichi. thumbup.gif

This is just here to track my performance, not the explanation :)

I'm down to talk about trading any day though!

When I closed my ES trade, I opened another trade in CL using the same setup.

It would be nice to play those two every day.

Yeah, me too. I was thinking I was going to get the signal today but

it didn't happen.

This trade doesn't happen everyday, but when it does I'm on it.

I've studied this extensively in /ES but I'm starting to see it works

well in almost all futures instruments.

This is what Jesse Livermore is talking about when he talks about

just waiting for the right trade and stop wasting money on "I think this will work out".

You need to know the patterns that work the best and wait for them.

Even when you've done your homework and you think you know the pattern you'll still get knocked on your azz.

Of course. You can't win them all...but hopefully you're not getting knocked on your azz and you're keeping your losers small.

CL, GC, and 6C all setup for my mechanical trade.

ES was just an intraday trendline break long

edit: 6C hit target, trade closed

All trades were made using just 1 contract

Today's mechanical trade was 6B. The ES trades (2) were super stupid.

I'm still holding my 6B position (6 lots)

So far, still 100% positive. 8 for 8 with these.

That's the name of the game Ichi (not getting knocked on your azz). I was just throwing some support your way. thumbup.gif

Thanks, Bob.

My mechanical time based exit was hit but I didn't exit (+$262)...wanting more. Hope it turns out okay or I get another chance to exit.

updated post v2

3 mechanical trades today and 1 random ES gamble not part of the mechanical trades..

6E ended up being a loser.

(11 wins 1 loss)

Now I understand. We all tend to do that and when we turn a winner into a loser it's a hard nut to crack. Been there, done that.
