Which indexes/stocks/industries do you guys watch to aid in intraday trades?

Question: What do some of the more experienced traders watch during market hours for timing signals?

Are there specific stocks/indexes/industries that you constantly have on your monitors? If A makes a move, can you reasonably expect B to react shortly after? Are there certain groups that work really well for you?

I ask because all I watch is the S&P. Should I, for example, begin to watch some currency pairs as well?

I use custom pivot points and usually don't watch anything other than what I am trading. I think most of us depend on our charts and not a reaction to something else but there are always exceptions. Personally if I'm trading YM (Mini Dow) I will watch ES (E mini S&P). If you read the posts, especially the intraday you will get a lot of info.

BobK, I'm not familiar with YM, but wouldn't you expect both YM and the ES to more or less move in sync?

Exactly. YM trails ES by just a fraction and that's why when trading YM I watch ES. This is the only pair that I have seen that works for me. As I said keep reading the intraday and you'll find a lot more of what you're trying to research. And best of luck to you.

Thanks, BobK. I'll be sure to keep up with the intraday.
