Platform update May 15th - speed improvements

There is an update tomorrow afternoon, this will be dealing with speed and memory issues:

These are the improvements we should be expecting:

  • Chrome showed an 18% reduction in memory usage.
  • Firefox showed a 15% increase performance. Memory usage was not significantly different.
  • IE9 was very similar to Firefox - pages also load about 15% faster.
  • IE8 showed improvements in both memory usage and performance, with a 25% reduction in memory usage and 35% increase in performance. IE8's load times are a full second faster now (from 2700ms to 1750ms)!

moar speed? awesome! this is fantastic news for anyone who has been experiencing performance issues with the site (not me). speed has always been pretty good for me. but to hear that it's gonna be getting even more quicker is pretty darn cool. kudos on the update sje wink.gif

that is pretty sweet that ie8 users get a full 1 second improvement on load times. that's impressive.

IE 8 & 9 users should see the biggest improvement.

For Chrome and FF, its the javascript stuff that should load a little faster.

That text should disappear when you click in that box to write something. What browser are you using?

IE8

It must be an IE8 issue, this platform is designed and optimized for the latest browser versions, so issues like the one you mentioned can be expected for older browsers.

Did you not have this problem before? That text was always there.
