Best disclosure statement ever:

In a seekingalpha article about GMCR, where the author questions their accounting practices (which were investigated by the SEC), the author wrote this disclosure at the end:

Quote:

Disclosure: I am a convicted felon and a former CPA. As the criminal CFO of Crazy Eddie, I helped my cousin Eddie Antar and other members of his family mastermind one of the largest securities frauds uncovered during the 1980's. I committed my crimes in cold-blood for fun and profit, and simply because I could. If it weren't for the heroic efforts of the FBI, SEC, Postal Inspector's Office, US Attorney's Office, and class action plaintiff's lawyers who investigated, prosecuted, and sued me, I would still be the criminal CFO of Crazy Eddie today.

There is a saying, "It takes one to know one." Today, I work very closely with the FBI, IRS, SEC, Justice Department, and other federal and state law enforcement agencies in training them to identify and catch white-collar criminals. Often, I refer cases to them as an independent whistleblower. I teach white-collar crime classes for various government entities, professional organizations, businesses, and colleges and universities. I do not seek or want forgiveness for my vicious crimes from my victims. My past sins are unforgivable.

I do not own any Green Mountain Coffee Roasters securities long or short.

I thought he was making it up when I first read this, but Crazy Eddie, at least, is real.  Hard to top that disclosure!

One of the securities I've been holding for about 6 months just did a stock split... and etrade charged me a $20 "reorg processing" fee.  Is that normal?

Crazy Eddie, remember him well... "His prices are so low, he's practically giving it away!!" Anyone from within 100 miles of the NYC area in the 1980s remembers his ads, along with Phil RIzzuto's ads for the Money Store.

Over at StockTwits, they are having amateur GMCR stand-up comedy hour... funny stream.

InverseProphet, my only experience with splits was with EDZ which is a triple bear ETF through Scottrade and it was a reverse split and no charges for the split..

I did have to wait a day or 2 before the shares were available for trade but no fee.

Maybe because EDZ  was an index ETF and not a stock equity may have something to do with it but not sure..

  • U1 : Percentage of labor force unemployed 15 weeks or longer.
  • U2 : Percentage of labor force who lost jobs or completed temporary work.
  • U3 : Official unemployment rate per ILO definition.
  • U4 : U3 + "discouraged workers", or those who have stopped looking for work because current economic conditions make them believe that no work is available for them.
  • U5 : U4 + other "marginally attached workers", or "loosely attached workers", or those who "would like" and are able to work, but have not looked for work recently.
  • U6 : U5 + Part time workers who want to work full time, but cannot due to economic reasons.

U6 Is perhaps the most comprehensive measure of labor resource unemployment available.

nice post.. always wanted to know what the real numbers were considering all variables. i anticipate that % to be higher later in the year as companies cut costs to improve margins

AAPL LOD 589.00, probably best to wait for bigger bounce to short, or for non.00 low to long...
NOW 588.00... wait for it...
SPY HOD yesterday 140.46, if AAPL can set a non .00 low before SPY takes out 140.46 it would be odds-on we'd see a nice coordinated pop in equities if/when we break that high... TF looks like the favored index long here.

ED: 1 min later... AAPL *check*

Man, the power David Einhorn wields is sickening.  HLF is now in the 48's ..... It's almost like when someone who tweets about a stock and it jumps a few percentages except it's on a much larger scale.  When Einhorn shows up on a conference call acting skeptical, your stock gets obliterated.

Its crazy how much he can move a stock.

Bernanke is taking a page from this lesson. No need for QE3, just keep talking about it as if it will happen, you get the same result.

Well we popped 20 on that beat earlier this week, why not dump ten quickly on this miss? Good job if you got short into that number, feeling thankful I had some patience this morning because I would have been dead wrong.

1390.00 is still the level in sp futures $es dont fall for the headfake

I've mentioned it here before, but it is worth pointing out that 1389.50 is the 78.6% fib from the March 2009 lows to all time highs on ES. This level is beginning to feel like a bit of a magnet, and the fib being here might help explain some of it (above we see a huge push into 1400s, below then it might be quite a while before getting back over this level). My thoughts are still long, the "buy the morning dip" mentality has come back into play to some degree in recent sessions.
