The overly bearish sentiment here over the past 2 days is enough to make me bullish wink.gif

ICE must be considered support until broken and proven otherwise, but man I keep looking at that huge 60 million spike on the 14th.  That was some serious distribution.

Any pictures I post are hopefully viewed as folly, meant to 'caption' sentiments in a humorous way... remember the magic parachuting clowns? Hopefully that was heavy-handed enough.

That said, DAX is -2.25%, Italy is -3.25%... so it does look like this week Europe has regained some sort of gravitational attraction over our markets. Maybe tha Bernank can cut that cord later today?

Looks pretty thin below that "ice", if it cracks.

One year chart of SPY is showing an ascending triangle where we are close to the tip of the triangle. It looks like a possible breakout is near.

This is a bullish pattern and trend may continue. Also, 135 is a strong support level, so there is not much room to drop huge.

Where are you looking for that Ascending Triangle?  Not seeing it.  The one that was broken to the upside earlier in that fall was at 128.04 ..... we are well beyond that.

flush or bounce hmmm.....

Looks like SPY monthly volume is going to be less than 1/3 of August's.

One other interesting longer term item, dollar has nice ascending trendline support off the early September low, it has held on numerous tests. Overhead, there is ascending trendline resistance moving over 81 recently. EURUSD testing the opposite, descending trendline resistance that has held for same time frame, tons of air below and above. That trendline test may end up being the more important of the two.

Very strange indeed!

According to my calculations, it should be at least $650 by now...

(calculated by drawing a straight line higher tongue.gif )

watching GS and other banks I'd be inclined to say flush, also Naz and russel pretty weak, but every time we get near 139.teens on SPY we seem to bounce--here we go testing it again . . .

For those of you wondering what the NYSE Composite Index is...

We usually refer to the Dow when we think about the NYSE, but the Dow is just 30 stocks.

From the NYSE website:

Index Description The NYSE Composite Index is designed to measure the performance of all common stocks listed on the NYSE, including ADRs, REITs and tracking stocks. In January 2003 the NYSE reintroduced the NYSE Composite Index under a new methodology that is fully transparent and rule-based. Under the new methodology, all closed-end funds, ETFs, limited partnerships and derivatives are excluded from the index. As of year-end 2004, the NYSE Composite consists of over 2,000 U.S. and non-U.S. stocks. It is a measure of the changes in aggregate market value of all NYSE-listed common stocks, adjusted to eliminate the effects of capitalization changes, new listings and delistings. The index is weighted using free-float market capitalization and calculated on both price and total return basis.

For Europe being down -1+% we are holding very well. Either hardly no selling or machines keeping us up. Even with a leg down to low 1380's i dont see huge losses in equities to come.

The mood is still very much "buy the dip" until one morning AAPL shareholders wake up and realize that owning AAPL is not the same as having money in the bank. There is actually risk! eek.gif
